Merry Christmas

I'm sure tomorrow will be busy for all of us, so I wanted to take this time to wish you a Merry Christmas. He came the first time as a little baby, but our king will return as king to claim his own. Maranatha!
Soli Deo Gloria,
Randy

The house is all quiet now, the kids asleep.
I am remembering happy days in Saginaw.
I'm thankful for a warm home.
Looking forward to taking a 4 generation photo tomorrow.
So thankful for Jesus.

Hope y'all have a great Christmas!
We are having a Christmas unlike any we have had before. My tenth grandchild, my son's first child, died about 15 minutes after birth last week. So our celebration of the Savior's birth is mixed with deep grief. We grieve for the baby, and we grieve to watch our son and his wife hurt. At the same time we have found God's grace sufficient and we have been surrounded by prayers and love from the Body of Christ. And we have 9 other Grandchildren under 10 years old whom we want to have a joyful Christmas.
We have been far more blessed than we deserve. I greatly enjoy these Logos forums, and I value each of you and your contributions. Again, Merry Christmas, y'all.

Your family will be one of several in our prayers ... this is a difficult time of year to deal with family loss.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Joy to the World! The Lord will come. Let Earth revere Her King. Let every heart prepare Him room. And Heaven and Nature sing. ...

Yes, Merry Christmas to you all!
I don't know what is true, but the last few years I've begun to see and hear claims that the real connection between Christmas and the Sol Invictus feast is the opposite of what has been claimed earlier. That Christmas was growing so popular even among heathens, that the emperor tried to quench its celebration by "importing" the local Sol Invictus feast from Cyprus or Rhodes (don't remember which).
A few days ago I read the same about Sweden. Seems the famous Midwinter feasts with animal, and sometimes even human, sacrifices are all a myth. There is no evidence whatsoever for a Midwinter feast in pre-Christian Sweden.
