Happy New Year Mike. Just 5:24 in my neck of the woods, so we still have way to go.

Just barely turned to Dec 31 in my neck of the woods, but may the Lord be with you all in the New Year. May it be a year of new depths of wisdom and joy and love; healing for those who are needing it, hope for those who are lacking it, and humility for the rest of us. And PEACE ON EARTH!

Not quite New Year's Eve yet here but blessings to all as we make the transition into another year. It is a good time to reflect on the blessings God has given us.
Using adventure and community to challenge young people to continually say "yes" to God

Out of curiosity, just searched for 2014 in my Logos library. The only hit that was a date rather than a page number was this:
According to Thomas Trask, general superintendent in 2000, if the present growth rates continue, the Assemblies of God will number more than one hundred million members by the time of the centennial celebration of the church in 2014.[1]
[1] Vinson Synan, The Century of the Holy Spirit: 100 Years of Pentecostal and Charismatic Renewal, 1901–2001 (Nashville: Thomas Nelson Publishers, 2001), 131.
I wonder whether that growth trend has continued as predicted. I also wondered what the Assemblies of God denomination has planned to celebrate the centennial and found this: http://100.ag.org/

Peace, Rosie! I've appreciated you for years now, eh???!!! Wonderful! Thanks for the information "tidbit," and Personal Blessings for 2014! *smile*
Our family used to love the game of "Trivial Pursuit," and for some reason we just don't play it any more ... It was nice to play it briefly with you this morning on the first day of a New Year of Grace! *smile*

Noticed 2014 is in many Lectionaries:
You’re a Grand Old Anthem
The year 2014 is a literal “banner year,” for it marks the two-hundredth anniversary of the penning of America’s national anthem, a poem originally titled “The Defense of Fort McHenry” but quickly renamed “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Americans hear and sing the song regularly, but just how familiar are we with the events (and the flag itself) that brought the song into being? Let’s find out. . . .
Lang, J. S. (2012). The big book of american trivia. Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale.A High-Stakes Failure includes:
High-stakes testing is at the heart of the federal “No Child Left Behind” legislation, in place since 2002. The “big idea” behind the legislation was that every child in the United States should be proficient in math and reading by 2014. And one important way to carry out the big idea was to hold schools accountable through yearly tests. If too many students failed the tests, schools would be punished. Administrators and teachers could lose their jobs, and the schools’ funding could be cut.
North, C. M., & Smietana, B. (2008). Good Intentions: Nine Hot-Button Issues Viewed through the Eyes of Faith (p. 77). Chicago, IL: Moody Publishers.Family Life Cycle 6—Empty Nest 1 includes:
Churches need to initiate formal training for couples who want to move into various kinds of lay ministry. In 1996 the first Baby Boomers turned fifty, and by the year 2014, 76 million will find themselves evaluating their mission and purpose.1 The church needs to capitalize on the vast experience of this group and their availability. They represent a massive amount of wealth, resources, and volunteer manpower.
Rainey, D. (2001). Ministering to twenty-first century families: eight big ideas for church leaders. (C. R. Swindoll & R. B. Zuck, Eds.) (p. 172). Nashville, TN: Word.Themelios Volume 38, No 2 includes:
The Carl F. H. Henry Center for Theological Understanding will hold a symposium in 2014 on Henry’s life and thought.7
Note: also found a Vryso ebook advertising: Coming January 2014.
By the way, the Hebrew Year 5775 begins on Sep 25-26 => http://www.hebcal.com/holidays/
Keep Smiling [:)]
