But I have to ask; how does one quantify a whack? I know gaggle, an bakers dozen, flock, and "murder" (as in of crows). But how does one quantify a whack?

By itself it means nothing. The phrase is "a whole whack of ..." It means a lot of something. Not really quantifiable (neither is "a lot").
