Studying topic "Israel's History"

I'm sure this question is very elementary to most of you, but I'm having a hard time with searching in L4. I've watched the videos, read forum discussions and looked at the Wiki site and watched a lot of videos, especially Mark Barnes'. I'm very thankful for all of those, but I may not be to the point to where some of them are not over my head.. I think part of my problem is narrowing what I want down in a search.

I would like to do a study, perhaps an overview, of the history of the nation of Israel. What I am particularly interested in is the time from the Exodus to the until the time of the Babylonian captivity. My desire is to see what the non-bible resources in my library contain on the nation's history, and of course, I want to narrow it down to a manageable amount of reading.

Could someone simply suggest search terms and where to input them?

To begin, you might try clicking on the open book, to open your library.

In the panel that opens, there's a little window where you can type in a book name.

You might try typing into it this search, to get BOOKS with history AND Israel in the title:

title:history AND Israel

First off...what package do you have? That makes a difference in what the answer is.

I'll assume that you have whatever level is necessary; and reply.

Do you have any collections made?

If not...a good place to start is to make collections of certain books such as bible dictionaries and things.

Then, bible handbooks, bible surveys, and bible history resources.

I'd do the following: Make a collection of any of these types of resources:

Bible dictionaries

Church history volumes

Manners and customs of the bible

Palestine at the time of Jesus

The temple and it's services

time travel to the world of Jesus

Then i might restrict my search to that.

I'd do a basic search, and try different terms...I just searched "babylonian captivity" and got some hits...one looks very good from "nelsons new illustrated manners and customs"

There are also some topics in the baker encyclopedia.

that's the best I can do....I hope it helps some.

Hi Robert. Yes your suggestions do help. That also helps me in establishing some collections. I have the Scholar's Gold L4 and several resources purchased separately in L3.

OK, that helps. I now have seven sources in the search. That is manageable.
