I inserted the Logos 4 disc to my Mac.

Indexing began immediately and took about ten minutes or so.

I clicked on the icon and it bounced but would not load.

I restarted computer and clicked icon again (success).    It asked for my username, password and serial number.

Now it is preparing my library and it is on stage 1 or 3: Has been in this mode for about fifteen minutes.

I'll will update later on how long it takes to prepare the library.

After 30 min. of preparing library it is now indexing library.  The counter is up to nearly 8hrs.  I'll update later the actual time it takes to index.

Finished indexing in 1hr 40 min.

Now, when I click the icon it just bounces and does not load.

I decided to download the Alpha 5 update.  As soon as it downloaded the home screen popped up with Alpha 8 on the header.  The blue icon on the top bar is now showing that it is downloading updates.  I'm pleased with the progress--knowing full well the challenges of loading an Alpha version.

    Hi Roger

Welcome to L4 Mac and to the Forum. From your last line it does not appear that you have any questions of complaints. May I suggest that you read the FAQ (the link in in my signature).  Are you using the Mac version exclusively, or will you be using the Windows version in parallel?

Your post is so refreshing that I don't know how to respond. So many have installed L4 Mac without any appreciation for the difficulties inherent with Alpha software. If you need any help, have a question, or just want to join the fun, the forum is like family, and there are plenty of knowledgeable people ready to respond.

    Again, Welcome.

    Jack

Thanks Jack.  It really is a lot of fun being in on something brand new and in a sense, helping the developers test it out.  I think it is exciting that Logos is even allowing Alpha to be seen. Most companies would not.  Of course, a good Christian run company should do things differently (and better).

I have a PC at home that I am going to load it on to see what it looks like from that vantage.  My primary computer is my MacBook--which I love.

I have been a fan of Logos from the beginning.  I ran a chain of Christian bookstores for years and always touted their product as the top Bible software.  Logos was always a bit more expensive than the others due to the powerful search engine and other features--people could be convinced when they saw a comparison of products.

Great to be in the forum "family."
