Sebts has something like 4500 students that will touch campus this semester, not to mention the online/distance program, and our MOOC program which is open to the public and is free at the moment...

What is SEBTS? I assume "TS" is Theological Seminary, but not sure of "SEB".

I would think LOGOS, like a college bookstore, could contact several major seminaries to see what is being fequired each semester. Some books may only be desired for a single semester (e.g. collateral reading), but others might be worth spending time producing.

Thanks - I would hope that LOGOS would work with the textbook lists of those schools that require LOGOS. I would not expect them to carry every book, but use those lists as a starting point to look for books to produce in LOGOS format. Part of the problem is that textbooks can change from semester to semester. Given the time needed to produce a book in LOGOS format, it would not be practical to convert every textbook for use in LOGOS format; but for those that have a history of use over several semester over several schools, it would be possible to narrow down what books could be converted in a timely manner.

Also, books can be produced in VYRSO format more quickly, it might be a better platform for producing text books. VYRSO sales could then be used as a guide to judge the likelyhood of sales supporting a LOGOS format text.

Just some random thoughts - but would seem like a way to move textbooks onto the LOGOS platform.

That would be very nice. I go to the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and whenever possible, I purchase the book in Logos, even if it is a little more expensive than at the school bookstore, but I prefer the books in Logos. I have a library of more than 6,000 books, and I still usually have to purchase most of my books at the bookstore. I hope that one day they do survey the various colleges and seminaries to see what textbooks they use in order to at least add the more popular ones into Logos.

YES!

Some of the greek texts I need are locked in the big zondervan bundle. No way am I going to spend 6-700$ to get ALL of those, when I only needed one or two. A few of the other texts I needed are in logos as well, but also locked in bundles. But at least they are /in/ logos. They will most likely eventually be broken up.

Or have students purchase ebooks bundled for the courses they are taking. At least the bundles would not include unneeded books.

I actually do appreciate, at least for the initial Logos purchase, getting the huge bundle, because for research both for school and independent research, I have truly appreciated the huge library that I have. I have had Logos since Libronix 3 (which I got around the end of 2006 when I first started seminary. I do understand that package purchase as probably being a good business decision and one that has been very helpful to me. I have appreciated it enough that when Logos 4 came out, I got the Portfolio edition and with Logos 5 got Gold edition. Long term, I do think that the large base packages do give you the best value for the money, that is if you enjoy the extensive research.

[Edit] I do prefer that for some of the packages beyond the base package if the titles are also available apart from the package. There are some books that I really want, but I just cannot afford to get the huge package that it is a part of. One example would be with the huge Zondervan bundles.

Base packages are one thing - I've been with Logos since version 1.6 (level 3), Logos 3 Scholars, L4 Scholars, and L5 Platinum; plus many prepubs and community priced items since version 4...

However this is another thing all together. There are maybe two or three books in there that I want, yet to have them I have to buy a pile of them that while they may be useful, I am not currently interested in. I had a prepub in for a decent rate, but when they came to market the cost exceeded what I could afford at the moment and (regrettably) I canceled the order.

I agree. There are some books in that list that I would like to get, but while they are only available in that package, I will not be getting them, hopefully they will be breaking this package apart.

I forgot to include the 2000+/- students at our college (the College at SouthEastern or C.A.S.E.)

As I understand it, 10,000 individuals will be involved with formal or informal education at the undergrad, grad and post grad levels - plus an reported number of individuals using the MOOC program.
