Verbum Passage Guide

I have a major objection to the layout of the "Passage Guide". As I was following Matthew 3:16-20 in the Practicum I just purchased, and on my VF+, when I noticed some links to "Gracewaymedia.com", "Sermonaudio.com", and a couple of similar links on my VF+. These are not Catholic and the one that causes me major concern is the Sermonaudio.com selection called "Why We Reject The Papacy #1" by Rev. John Armstrong. Why in the world would something like this be in the Verbum Passage Guide?

There is no way that I can recommend Verbum software to my parish with these major problems in it's passage guide layout, nor procure any additional products. I have a son who is currently discerning the priesthood and I will not buy Verbum for him until I am sure this software is "Catholic". I highly recommend that whom ever is in charge of QA take these problems seriously now and in their evaluation of furture releases.

I'm not sure if it's because of the beta version I use, but I believe that those links to (typically protestant-leaning) sermon databases are not part of the default layout under Verbum (instead, you'll get Catholic ones I marked green in my screenshot).

You may edit the layout, see http://wiki.logos.com/Passage_Guide for a quick introduction.

That said, the software itself can only be as catholic as your library: For every user it depends on what he/she bought (and prioritized) whether the commentary section will show Collegeville or Calvin's Commentary.

As a Catholic with VF+, I have merely edited the Passage Guide (by creating a version called "My Passage Guide") so that only what I want shows up. Consequently, links to websites including Gracewaymedia.com etc. do not. As I recall from the Verbum Blog, the first part of the first chapter of Practicum teaches you how to edit your Passage Guide, among many other very useful things.

EDIT: I just checked the default VF+ Passage Guide and it does not include links to those sites. (What I did in customizing my Guide was to remove a bunch of categories I didn't want, add a personally-curated Collection, and rearrange the order of the sections in the Guide.)

I'm not sure why you're seeing those; these links are not included in the default Passage Guide in Verbum.

Does the program say "Logos" in the title of the main window, or "Verbum"? (A screenshot of your entire application window may be helpful here.)

Bradley - It says "Logos", so I think I see where we're headed with this. I've uninstalled the software and I'm in the process of reloading "Verbum" from the link sent to me via email when I bought VF+. (Below is the link)

A faster way to achieve the same result (for the benefit of anyone else who stumbles on this thread who has the same or a similar problem) is to type Set Verbum to Yes in the Command bar. (Setting it to No will flip the interface to show Logos again.)
