Opened My Bible Word Study from the menu and it displays a passage (e.g. Matt 5.12), which happens to be the active reference; whether from a Passage Guide or Bible, and from any tile. It doesn't matter that the previous Study was on a valid word.
I can reproduce this and I will create a case for Development.
This will be fixed in 5.2a Beta 4.
