Hi,

I installed Logos in the following platforms: PC (laptop), iPad, iPhone.

I used my iPad to read books for several days in the absence of internet connection. Now that I am connected to the internet, my highlighting from iPad does not appear in the other two platforms.

I tried to power off and on, restart, etc but nothing happens.

Please help.

Thanks

    Hi Eko,

Please login to your Logos account at http://documents.logos.com - you should see a list of Documents including your Notes.  Do the highlights that you've added to your iPad appear there?

Hi Kevin, thanks for the quick reply.

The new highlights I made were not in either of the two highlighting files I have (Solid Colors and Highlighter Pens). What should I do?

Are you sure that your iPad is online and that you have allowed enough time for the app to sync?  It appears that you have tens of thousands of notes in those two note documents.

    Eko -

You should be aware that the mobile app is very finicky about large note files. You would  be better off using smaller note files and organizing them. Personally, I create "resource specific note files."

Kevin: yes, I am online. This issue happens only between iPad and the other devices (PC and iPhone).

alabama24: That sounds better, but how do I do that? (sorry for my ignorance) Also, is there a way to do it for the highlights that I already made (like the ones I mentioned above - done via iPad)?

    Thanks

Alabama ... that's heaven to my (Libby) ears.  Large note files and L5.  Hmmm.

(I'm the L5 user that doesn't sync my L5, carefully keeping off line, but uses my six iOS Logos apps with shear delight.)

There isn't a good way to move notes from one document to another. You would have to attempt this in L5 by having both documents open and visible in separate panels and drag notes one by one to the new document. [:S]

That sounds better, but how do I do that? (sorry for my ignorance)

First, you need to change the behavior of where notes are stored. In the mobile app, choose "settings" and "document for highlights." Set it to "Most recent Note Document." I call this behavior "sticky." You select the document you want to use and it says put until you change it again. This works great for users who want to stay in a single note document for a while. If you are reading a single book (like I do) for an extended time, you set it to the resource note document, and highlight away. When you change books, you need to remember to change the note document the first time you create a highlight or other note.

In L5, the behavior is changed at the pallet level.

    Kevin,

i checked again and it seems that my iPad is connected to the internet (e.g. Greek and Hebrew parsing work, I can see all resources I have including the ones that are not downloaded to my iPad). But whatever change I made to my notes doesn't not get synced up at the moment.

For instance, I tried to follow alabama's suggestion of creating a new notes file from iPad for my new highlights. This file is not visible from my PC L5. So there seems to be some disconnect between my iPad and PC.

Is there something I should do?

    Thanks

Have you killed the app via the multitask bar? Done a full shut down of your device? Did you try using the new note document in a completely unused resource? Can you give some screen shots from both your iPad and L5 to illustrate?

Please try something for me - open the same resources that you've created notes for on your Logos 5 Desktop and then add a note or two to them (from Desktop) and then press the sync button.  Does that change anything?

    Kevin:

I did that. iPhone can see the document (called Test - also in the server). But iPad doesn't recognize it. I also created a new document from i{ad (Highlights 201401) but the server, PC, and iPhone do not see it.

Other than that, the iPad is connected to the internet and can see all resources that I have (including the new ones that are just available a few hours ago, i.e. ICC upgrade). Peculiarly, my Mobile Favorites in iPad is synced with iPhone.

So something goes wrong as far as Notes are concerned.

I've tried powering off and on, etc, as suggested by alabama, none work.

    Thanks

Did you try deleting the app on the iPad (you will have to redownload notes & resources)?

I'm going to escalate this up to the server team to see if they can help.  Also, please open the Help section and tap Send Support Info so we can take a look at your logs.

Ok thanks Kevin, will do. FYI the device name is Eko's iPad.

Alabama: That's the only thing I haven't done since I don't want to lose all the highlights I do on my iPad - at least not before my paper is due and the final.

    Thanks

The server team says there is an *enormous* item that you are attempting to sync and it's causing a failure on the SQL Server.  Did you happen to create a Note containing, say, 1000 pages of text?

Sorry, kevin04 is one of my test accounts and I accidentally posted as that user...

Kevin, I think that must be the highlights note (I don't have any other "gigantic" notes). I do lots of highlighting for sure.

    - Is there a way in L5 to break up the files, e.g. switch to a new file when a max size is reached?

    - Is there a remedy for this problem (can I break up the files)?

    - I followed alabama's suggestion on using the most recent Notes (switching from Pallete). I have a new file named 'Highlights 201401' which should be small. But even this is not recognized by the server.

    Thanks for your help!
