Time for a step up?

First off: This isn't a complaint.

My computer is 10 months old.  It is a Gateway with a Intel Centrino dual core 2.0 GHz with 4 GB of RAM and a 500 GB HDD (more than likely a 5400 RPM).  This is all on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I have plenty of RAM.  I don't think I have seen the RAM access more than 1.8 GB during a search.  Logos 4, in general usage, seems sluggish with my Original languages layout.  Just doing something like hovering over a word takes four or five seconds to display the "information."  And to throw the right click on it will take another four seconds, easy.  

I think this is processing and access power.  

I bet with a i7 processor (on a select few laptops this January) and a SSD drive I bet Logos would fly like quail in hunting season.  

Does anybody have any experience with a similar suggested setup as the last paragraph?

I have a HP Pavillion notebook computer with the i7 720Q or QM I don't remember which. 6 Gigs DDR3 1066 Ram and  A 1Gig Nvidia 230M graphics card and Windows 7 64 Bit, but no SSD drive.

I can say that I have been blissfully happy with the performance of Logos 4 with no crashes at all. It is quick and responsive to every hover or input. I will say I have noticed a little slow down since 4.0a on a wide front but I am sure Logos was thinking stability first in time for Christmas on the 4.0a release. One of the best ways I can describe the difference with a i7 and enough memory, I had Scholars Silver when I initially installed and my indexing was right at or slightly under 2 hours. When 4.0a came out a few days ago and I had upgraded to Platinum, indexing was still right around 2 hours.

My advice is if you have the capability to get a i7 and plenty of memory to help it along then be kind to yourself and do it. L4 is a joy to use when it runs as it is supposed to. Definatly get the 64 Bit version of Windows 7 or all that extra memory will be useless. If you search the threads here you will find a couple of people who have used SSd drives and the speed return can't be justified for the cost, and I believe relocating the index files to that drive presents problems with Logos unless you get a large enough SSD to make it your primary drive. Very expensive. The i7 when Logos is indexing shows 8 cores pumping away, it only has 4 but W7 hyperthreading tells it there are 8. Don't ask I don't understand it at all, I just Love it.
