Missing Resources

I am a long term user of Logos - right from floppy disc days 2.0 I think! - Have really enjoyed libronix and used it every day.
The Logos 4 upgrade is great! Taking a bit of getting used to but it is very good and I am really enjoying exploring it and the discovery of so many new things -- and I am liking the forums too!

I have one small question though -- on my desktop I have 845 resources in my library - but on my laptop I am only showing 830??

Both computers are new and well spec'd, both have Libronix and Logos 4a.
Can anyone tell me why there is a difference of 15 books? And how to find the missing resources?

I have the same issue 3732 on my laptop- 3772 on my desk top- not sure why- I have even deleted the resource folder on my laptop and replaced it with the resource folder from the desk top, and still after rebuilding the library and reindexing, the laptop still shows 3732. Go figure.

Also both resource folders contain 3842 items- why would the resource folder contain that qty- but a lot less in the library.

Let me know if you get an answer I have not as of yet.

I don't have a direct answer as I did not separately update my installations. I use one as master, do all resource updates on it and then copy the resource folder to a USB drive (any removable drive!) and feed it to the other installation:

type scan <resource location on drive> in the Command bar
restart L4

The scan command copies the resources and then starts indexing. Your "master" is the computer with the largest # of resources.

... the standard resource path is:-

XP -> C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4\Data\{random}\ResourceManager\Resources

Vista/Win7 -> C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\{random}\ResourceManager\Resources

That has me stumped. But have you tried a file comparison utility to see what differences exist?

No I got that resolved by replacing the resource mgr db file- it stopped all that duplicate dwnllding.

Ok that answers part of my question- there are other files other than just resources- ok feel better about that.

I have on machine #1 my main files- including L3- which when I setup- I scanned that resource folder- then ran update resoueces on L4- which I gather is the way an initial setup should go. I then copied that folder to #2 and it was setup.

But thats where some of the weird stuff came in- different resource #'s. I deleted some lbxlls files out of #2's resource folder an ran up date- it did not replace them so I am assuming at this point if I replace the #2 resource folder with my "main back up folder" that should restore all my present resources.

Dave, I am just migrated to a new Windows 7 box and I transferred everything (so I thought) and I am missing about 15 resources. On my old box I had 1426 resources with 7 files hidden leaving 1419. Right now I have only found 1404.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

Ken, I would prefer that you start a new thread as you will attract more responses. My quick answer is to refer to an earlier post of mine (above) and use the scan command on the resources from your old computer to update your new one. If that does not resolve it then describe how you "transferred everything".
