Tag editor: Are we going to ever be able to edit or delete an existing tag for multiple resources?

I see the tag editor has been somewhat redesigned, but we still haven't got the needed tools to update and delete existing tags for all resources with a particular tag.  Is this in the plans?

I keep trying to right-click on an existing tag in the editor and hoping there would be a menu with "Edit" and "Delete from all" on it.  I have lots of legacy tags that I don't use anymore, but they can't be deleted because I would have to touch hundreds of resources to do so.  It would help the community tags to be more relevant if users could clean up their existing tags easier.

I'm sorry Todd, but these beta-tag threads are preventing me from behaving properly. I'm happy your experience is limited to 'hundreds'.  What about the nutty user that tagged 'thousands'?  Gee, who'd would do THAT?!

I'm glad I don't work at Logos; I'd get 'fired today' sooner than today.

This is really important and would be a great move forward

It is nearly there - I hope

We can now right-click on a tag and find all resources tagged with it

We can select them all and "clear tags" - but this removes all tags associated with the resources. If this brought up a dialog box allowing you to choose which tags should be deleted that would - I think - address this. But there may be better ways to do it.

Being able to update / modify is also important.

Agree 10000% !!!!! It has been years, it has been this way since Logos 4 first came out. This is the kind of thing that is frustrating, Logos will add features that we are not really sure we need, yet basics are overlooked. I sometimes feel there aren't many people at Logos that use the product regularly, otherwise they would see the same things we do day after day.

PS - Every resource in my library is tagged - I believe Morris Proctor recommends it to new users - and I bet I am not alone.

Have felt that way for a long time.

I also agree with the sentiments expressed in this thread.

"I sometimes feel there aren't many people at Logos that use the product " isn't that a shame!

Bradley at Logos says they have many Logos users at Logos.  So, I'd suspect like many larger companies, they're heavily compartmentalized with tightly managed priorities (and justifiably so, given multiple platform issues, automatic delivery of safe updates, targeted strategies, etc).

I was an exec at a $7B company and it was really quite embarrassing that everyone could see our site/software had obvious deficiencies. Even the IS (typically) guys would cringe.  Interestingly at church I still get an earful.

    Obviousness is a challenge.

    Indeed!

We've always been able to do that, except in stable one has to filter or sort by mytag.

I've come to suspect that our main problem is that the designers don't use Logos enough. Once something's been designed, it may not be so easy to change when actual use turns up all the flaws.

There is an active case for this in Development. I will add a link to this forum post to the case, and we will update you once this is implemented. [:D]

For the benefit of future readers who might stumble across this thread, renaming tags was introduced in 5.2a and deleting a tag from all resources was added in Logos 5.2b beta 1. To use both features, select one resource that has the tag you want to delete/rename, and right-click on that tab in the library information panel. It works very nicely.
