Suggestions for a Tablet?

I am considering purchasing a tablet, and would greatly appreciate input as to what would be most suitable for my needs…

Not looking to run “full” Logos, but simply able to read various books (i.e. commentaries)- more like an e-reader
I don’t want to be “tethered” to the internet- my library access should not be dependent upon my connection to the internet
I would prefer a smaller screen, and am not looking to spend more than $350.

I would look at a Nexus 7, a 7-inch tablet that runs Android.

FYI, no tablets, except for Windows 8 tablets, run the full Logos software. Android and Apple's iOS run a stripped down version of Logos.

You'll need to download the resources to your tablet once you have signed into your Logos account. Once you have done that and downloaded your resources, you don't need an Internet connection to read your resources.

Given the price point, I got an Apple reconditioned iPad mini which is just a smudge larger than my PaperWhite. Some like the retina; the older one's fine and more affordable.

We already had a Nexus7, but I'm not thoroughly confident of the software that lands on it, especially looking into the future. Logos-only, no problem.

I use a Galaxy note 8" and I think it is great for Logos. The S Pen is very useful.

Incidentally the list price is one penny short of your spending limit.

Make sure you get a tablet that can hold your entire library if you require access without the internet. Both the Android and iOS versions of Logos allow you to download your whole library, but depending on the size of your library, this can easily exceed the space available in the average tablet (especially if you want to load other programs).

That is an attractive offer if someone really wants to run Logos 5 on a tablet. It should do it for under $500.

I would put Logos and other essentials on the 128 GB HD, add a micro SD card for more storage when I could afford to, and use the USB for an inexpensive solution (external HD) for plenty of storage.

But, Chris doesn't really intend to run full Logos on a tablet. If someone is primarily looking for a way to read their Logos library (not including Personal Books), as Chris indicates, it is hard to beat the iPad. It is an excellent reader, and what it does, it does very well. And you can buy the older models of iPad at a very reasonable price.

The iPad is a little smoother as an ebook reader. If that is all one wants, you can't beat it. On the other hand you can do a lot more with a Surface Pro, and it also is a good ebook reader. Either one is a good choice.

Most painful thing about Android tablets is the fact that storing the library on memory card usually is not possible.

Most Android devices have an internal memory card, usually 2 to 4 GB in size. The average Logos library doesn't fit on there, and moving app data to the external card when there's an internal one present, is impossible (unless you root the device).

So unless anyone here can explicitly confirm that moving the library to external card is possible for some device, you can expect to have limited space only for your resources. Or you get a device with a larger internal storage, which would probably bust your budget. Or you root the tablet which will void warranty and carries other risks.

I was just given the new Galaxy Tab 3 by my Wife's good friend, Logos is working fine.

It has 16gb drive, and it use SDXC 64GB but I have a SDHC 32GB for it now.

with logos installed on the 16gb drive, I still have 4GB free space.

Now what's obviously happened a few weeks ago is that LinkedIn sees you as the owner of the mailing list. Here's a screenshot what Outlook users (and probably other Microsoft users such as Hotmail as well) see when they receive a new message on the list:

It might be good to straighten this out somehow. I'm already in touch with Microsoft so they can investigate exacty where they draw that information from. Could you also have a look at your LinkedIn account whether you're associated to the Vyrso newsletter?

I looked for something similar to you and decided for the Dell Venue 8. I am very happy with it. It runs Android 4.3, has 32 GB runs on Intel and performs very well. And I got it for $199. When you look at head to head with Nexus, it compares very well. I was impressed by all the positive reviews of Nexus and was going to buy it. Then I went to a store to try it and was really disappointed. I did not like the buttons at all and the model I tried was actually sluggish...

I have a Nexus 7 (2013) and have read lots of books with it. It's pretty light (290g) and the screen has great resolution.

If you want to put your entire library on the device you might consider the LG Pad 8.3 which is also available in a Google version. https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=lg_g_pad It can take up to 64GB microSD card. It wasn't out yet when I bought my Nexus so I didn't consider it but it does weigh a little (43g) more as the screen is larger.

I just moved from a 4th gen iPad to an iPad mini with Retina and love it. I downloaded my entire library to is so I always have it with me. I mainly want to be able to read Logos/Vyrso books and minor study but the heavy lifting I will do on my mac. With that said there are resources that I have in Logos that I probably won't read on the mini but I have them there anyhow. My Library has over 3,500 resources and includes the Mobile Ed videos and it's 12.5 GB so with a 16GB iPad you should be able to download a large selection of resources to view offline. Right now Apple has the original iPad Mini 16Gb for $299 or the Retina
