BUG: Search - Passage Guide admixture

Okay, I am confused. I do some testing with Amos as a search term to create a visual. I do a passage guide on Isaiah 9 ... dink around a bit ... do another passage guide this time of Psalm 96. I click on the passage guide line for New Manners and Customs to open it ... and I can't find anything related to Psalm 96. Instead Amos is highlighted - it was long out of my mind, even if I hadn't closed the search. Is it intentional that the passage guide showed Amos i.e. it added the open search to the passage guide?

If you go type Psalm 96 in the box for New Manners and Customs it goes to the page in your screenshot, because there is no section on Psalm 96. So I think the problem is that New Manners and Customs is coming up in the commentaries on the Passage Guide even though it has no article on that passage...

(Amos is highlighted because your Amos search is still open, which I think is just coincidental).

I think you explanation is correct. I am supposed to browze down the list and only open books without the x in the circle that shows only when I hover? I would really prefer to not have commentaries that are irrelevant appear at all.

No that isn't it either - if I change to Isaiah 9:1-7 the first commentary listed is The New Bible Commentary which has the x in a circle when I hover over it but has an honest-to-true-goodness entry on the passage. I swear this bizarreness was not in 4.0. Well, either it wasn't there or I didn't notice.

[:D] The blue circle/x should appear for every book; it's there so that you can remove books you didn't find useful from your report, it saves all these data in the background (as with notes entered into guide reports), keeping the report saved (you can then favourite it; or run the same passage again and it opens the report with your changes saved rather than running it from scratch).

It seems to me that its probably a bug in the New Manner and Customs resource having a reference to Psalm 96 in its index or something like that; for an interesting comparison try running a guide on Psalm 96:1-13 in another tab and see how it differs...

Okay - I'd said before the use of the x for delete and close confused me. Again, what you say makes perfect sense - I just need to spend a bit more time learning to read the icons.

I can recreate the problem but not every time. I did the search on Amos. Then did a PG on Ps 96:1-13 - the problem did not appear; Then did a PG on Ps. 96 - no problem. Then did a PG on Ps 110 with the problem of Amos being picked up again. I'll try later to recreate the problem with logging on but I have some higher priorities at the moment.

The real problem is that New Manners and Customs is not a Commentary - that's a metadata issue I added to http://wiki.logos.com/Metadata_correction_proposals.

The bug if any, is similar to http://wiki.logos.com/Bug$3a_Holman_$22Commentaries$22_open_to_wrong_reference_from_PG as it should find an indexed entry close to the intended reference. So Ps 98:6 may be OK if the next indexed entry is Ps 111 or higher. Indexed entries appear in the text box, so it's got nothing to do with Amos, which is a searchable bible reference.

It does not appear for every Passage Guide on the Psalms - it's appearance is sporadic. I have not gotten it to appear falsely on a Psalm if I don't have an open search. Obviously, I'm tried only a few of the possible conditions.

PG reflects the indexing of the resource so it does not appear in the Commentaries section for Ps 96:1-3, but it does appear for Ps 96, Ps 110. If your search results for Amos are present in a Search tab then you will sometimes see them in the resource from your PG.

But you don't need a PG to see these results, just type a bible reference into the text box of New Manners. For Ps 96:1 there is no suggestion, but there is a suggestion for Ps 96 and Ps 110 that reflects what you get from PG. If you scroll down from Ps 98:6 the next entry is Ps 119:83, then 123:2. This is why Manners should not be a commentary as it deals only with verses applicable to its theme.

The bug here is that Manners should go to Ps 91:3 when you type Ps 96:1 (or go to Ps 98:6 when you type Ps 110:1)!
