Notes under 3 books became under 1 book. How to separate them?

Hi, I have mixed notes to a few books together. Notes that should be made under Book A and Book B and Book C respectively are all under Book A now. How to separate them, that is, those notes that should be under B and C go to B and C respectively? Thanks.

Hi Theo,
You will need to create notefile B from document window, then open A then you can drag B's notes over from A (the handle is far Left hand side either side of note indicator), sadly as far as I know is only way to do it at this time.
then do same with C

It is. You must drag one at a time to the new note document. Hope you are not speaking of hundreds of notes [:(]

Thanks for your instruction. If I could understand what you said, I have followed your instruction. However, when I dragged the note from A to Note File B (which I newly created), only another panel of the same book (B) opened. So the dragging cannot let B's note really go to B.

You are correct that you cannot change what the note is attached to by moving it. I had understood your question in terms of wanting to split a file covering 3 books into 3 separate files which is the answer you were given.

Once you have created a note either by selection (a particular Bible or book) or by reference (any Bible or book with that reference) you cannot change it. You can only create a new note and copy and paste the content.

What puzzles me is how you got into this problem. Are you sure you hadn't accidentally created them on a single book? Or did you maybe make them by reference when you meant selection?

Thanks for your help. I have been using Libronix until recently when I began using Logos 5. So I thought the notes in Logos 5 are lumped together in an untitled file. Only very recently I knew that I better create a new Note File for each book. That is the reason that notes to different books have been lumped into 1 Note File. Thanks again.[:D]

For clarification, notes can be "attached" three ways:

By "reference". A note created "by reference" appears in ANY and ALL versified resources. If you attach a note to John 3:16 in the NIV, it will appear in all other translations (at John 3:16), along with all other commentaries, etc.)
By "selection". A note created "by selection" appears ONLY in the specific resource you are working in. FYI - All "highlight" notes are attached "by selection." This means that highlights will only ever appear in the ONE resource.
Unattached notes. These notes are created in the note document, rather than within the right click of any resource. They are not attached to any reference or resource selection.

It looks like your "Complete Jewish Bible" (green) note is attached to a reference. In that case, it will appear in each and every versified resource.

As for dragging the note from one document to another... I am unsure why it isn't working for you. The note should be able to be moved. As MJ has suggested, this will NOT change the note from one of "reference" to "selection"... all it would do is move where the note is stored.

Here is a screen shot of the "right click" menu from within a given resource. Notice at the top right there are a number of "tabs." Currently, I have "reference" selected. Clicking "add a note to..." at the bottom will create a note by reference. If I want to create a note by "selection," I need to change the tab at the top accordingly.
