Anyone running VMware 3, Windows XP SP3, with VMware and the VM on an SSD?

My configuration:

Early 2009 2.93 Ghz dual Unibody MB Pro with 8GB RAM on OS 10.6.2

Two hard drives (one via optibay)

VMWare 3 running Windows XP SP3

I have tweaked my configuration to match all recommendations, except I am not running Windows 7 and would rather not purchase it but wait for Logos 4 for Mac to catch up.

My question is if I were to replace my hard drive with an Intel SSD, would Logos 4 possibly be faster, or is the software mainly CPU driven?

Anecdotally, the hard drive is one of the slowest components on any computer, so it is possible an SSD would give some performance benefits to Logos 4. I couldn't guarantee this statement though.

I am running the exact same software config you mention. VMfusion 3 with XP SP3 from a boot camp partition on an IMac Core 2 duo 2.66 Mhz with 4 Gig of Ram and the performance is somewhat sluggish. I am only dedicating 1 cpu to to the VM but I have some 3D games that run well, I think Logos 4 for windows is just your typical Windows app, not necessarily built for speed as much as appearance and that at a cost in performance. But, it works and gets me what logos 4 can't right now so I'll live with it. It's obvious that Logos 4 was released when it was to generate income to help defer development costs, it definitely was not complete in either platform, just take a look at what they are still working on in the windows version to get where they were with the previous version, tells me they weren't ready and is very disappointing for a Christian company to play games like this with it's loyal user base. But again Logos is awesome and I guess we'll all just have to be forgiving and wait for the final product or Logos 5 next year.

I know the frustration with a company releasing a product that is obviously not up to par with a previous version; however, who determines when a product is ready for market? I think that Logos is ready to give full refunds to those that do not like Logos4 because they try it out and are not happy with it. The market is the market.

Now, we can armchair quarterback the Logos management team and say it isn't ready, but perhaps they thought it was; that is in their mind and we choose when to spend our money right? As long as a trial period exists where people can get their money back or use on a trial basis, then I think that they are having to work within the same realm any company is. A company in and of itself, isn't Christian; only the people working their can be Christian, or not, then you have to determined whether they are following the same Christianity that you and I know the Bible speaks of.

All in all, my point is that we cannot be so naive as to expect something different from a company that has a majority of its staff and management being Christians than not. I am more after a company that knows what it is doing in its field and gets things right either the first time, or corrects a failure the first time without having to provide update after update. I would rather pay an unbeliever to fix my car if their reputation is excellent know-how and service than a "Christian" company that simply says they will continue to work on it until they get it right, but really never do (as an example; not that Logos fits this description necessarily).

Christians can be as ugly and nasty as the worst unbeliever you have ever met (Lordship Salvation has a problem with this); so we should be careful no matter where our money goes. We were not commanded by Christ to spend money only on products and services associated with companies where a majority of their employees are Christians, but to be good stewards and invest wisely. We are commanded not to trust man (Proverbs), so this implies circumspection in all avenues of dealing in business and personal relationships. All should be suspect and under the same scrutiny (remember Christ didn't entrust Himself to the disciples early in their discipleship training, until later, for He knew their hearts in John's Gospel).

Please do not take the above personally, it simply is the Truth and I accept responsibility for my decision to pay Logos for their product and deal with them accordingly.

Pat, good points all around. My point about the Christian part is that as such we should be above reproach in our dealings, business or personal, and pursue excellence in what we do. I guess at this point then Logos is pursuing excellence in their product they just have a lot more work to do to get there.

Gotcha and fully agreed. My contention has been that I thought all of the functionality in version 3 would naturally be in version 4, but I guess the basis on which L4 is built is different than L3. I am not a computer science expert by any means, but I can understand that when you change a platform, you change the workings all together fundamentally.
