I just want to divide up a resource into forty segments so I can use it as my Lenten reading, one segment a day. This seems like the sort of thing library software should be able to do.
Of course you can. Go to documents and make a new Reading Plan document.
You will be able to select the resource, the start day and e.g. the number of sessions - this will look something like this:
You may change this as you like. Then generate the plan.
