When I select Bible Word Search in Logos 4 I get no responses. Where the word is enttered a green arrow flashes momentarilky then is gone. Bible Word Search works fine in Logos 3
How are you entering BibleWordSearch? Give a step-by-step.
(Do you mean BibleWordStudy?)
English, Greek, or Hebrew?
BWS can be accessed from the right-click menu (from within a Bible: Selection>BWS) and from the "Guides" menu. Can you open it from the Guides menu?
EDIT: I assume that since you're posting here, you are not using the Mac version. Correct?
Yes, Sorry I meant Bible Word Study. If I right mouse click on a word from within a Bible text it works but if I go to Guides - Bible Word Study and enter a word I expected a get some results. The problem I suspect is that there is no go' button to push after entering the word - as I enter a word I can see a small arrow flash at the the right hand end of the box where I eneter the word but it doesn't stay there for me to click on. I do have several dictionaries installed. Maybe I should do a re-install
I'm not sure of this is relevant but I noticed that if I enter a word such as 'logos' or 'trinity' (without the quotes) in the Bible Word Study find box, then I see the behaviour you mention (i.e. the 'go' arrow is there while you type and then disappears). I think this is because these words do not appear in an English text Bible. If I type 'g:logos' instead to indicate that I am entering a Greek word, then I will get a pop up that shows 'λογος word' which I can select and then it will do the Bible Word Study.
So what word are you typing in to do a search on? Is it a valid English Bible word? If it is, then perhaps you have an indexing problem?
What happens if you press the "Enter" key from your keyboard after typing your word.
In other words open the BWS, then type these five keys: G-O-L-D-Enter and you should get a BWS on the English word "gold."
If I go to Guides / Word Bible Study and enter a Greek word as Mark (above) mentiioned then I get responses. The same if I enter a Hebrew word. But if I type in "Passover" of "Lord" or "Jew" I get nothing, whether I press enter, tab or anything else and with or without the quotation marks.
If I select a word in an open Bible and right-mouse click on it then I get responses. I tried entering the word I was looking for in the search box instead of the one that was selected in the Bible text - nothing
It simply doesn't work with English words. Am I the only person having this problem (although Mark appears to as well) and does Tech Support not read these problems
Graham,
So THIS is NOT what you're seeing; right? You type a word and LOGOS tries to match it in the database...
That is correct. I don't get what you displayed. I wonder whether the problem is that I have simply upgraded the engine to Logos 4 from Logos 3 (free upgrade). I am interested in the interlinear so I have just purchased the minimum upgrade for $69.95. Maybe that will solve the problem. I will let you know if this solves the issue
That could explain it. I looked at the upgrade path options for BWS for the different base packages. It seemed that there were some functions that would only work with Original Languages, Scholars or above. But doing a BWS on an English Bible wasn't mentioned and I assumed it was available to anyone who had BWS functionality.
If you do get the BWS to function after the upgrade, let us know. It could help us diagnose issues with others later.
TIA
It appears that Bible Word Study does not work with English words with just the free Logos 4 engine upgrade. However after upgrading to the "Minimal Crossgrade" for $69.95 (which includes interlinear Bibles) the Bible Word Study works with English words. See http://www.logos.com/minimalcrossgrade
Ah...thanks for clearing that up Graham...
