Can the Logos 5 data files be installed on a network share?

Can the Logos 5 data files be installed on a network share so that I don't have to keep have them installed on every one of my PCs?  Not only is that a LOT of disk resources, but the maintenance is far beyond what's reasonable - IMO.  I would think this is a question that has already been asked, many time over, but I'm unable to find an answer by searching this Forum.  Can anywone give me some insight?

It would only be possible by using a disc redirect (junction). Logos itself installs everything on the same drive.

Please note that the second method (junction point) in the wiki cannot be used on a network share. You can redirect to local storage only, including a removable drive.

(Edited) You can't share a single installation as Logos is designed to be a per user application. And you can't share the data files by re-direction to a network share because of a Microsoft limitation on NTFS junction points.

15 - 40 GB is not a significant amount for PC's with HDD's of 500 GB or more. It is a problem with small SSD's though. On Windows 8 tablets it is possible to install or re-direct to a microSD card but there may be a performance penalty. PC's give you the option of getting a larger drive, a second drive (preferably SSD) or off-loading larger data files (photos, music, etc) to a removable drive.

I would only consider a USB 3.0 removable drive for Logos but using one to share the data files is more involved than the maintenance tasks you currently have (what are they?) e.g. you have to ensure it is always assigned the drive letter as per your re-direction; if you have problems on one PC you can't just do a normal re-installation, and I'm uncertain about the effects of synchronisation for an action that has already been implemented on the drive e.g. after you hide resources on one PC.

Observation: updating index files for each Logos installation while sharing resource files is a bit challenging.  Technically possible to share files, but not practical.

Caveat: Logos was designed for one set of files to be used by one user at a time.

It would not be a pleasant experience which would far outweigh the pain of maintaining on multiple machines.

The core issue is the average network access speed which is (still) nowhere near as fast as direct disk access for the majority of networks.

This would impact your usage in multiple ways - opening books, indexing, searching. For example to index books your computer has to pull the data from the data source (directly attached storage = local HDD, or network drive) process it in the computer memory and then write data back to the data source.
