Yes, I would like the free book. No, I am not going to provide my credit card information in order to get it. This is the way scammers and other illicit operations work. Why does Logos?
Not one complaint from those who have used Logos for years...its always the new guy.
Logos has explained why they do it (the third party e-commerce software they use includes that requirement and it wasn't easy to remove it), but they do intend to change it at some point. It just hasn't been as high a priority as other things they've needed to get done first, even though LOTS of people have complained about it. But keep the complaints coming. They do reprioritize their development goals based on user input. Perhaps this needs to be made into a UserVoice item so people can vote on it, as those things tend to get looked at before other requests that might get lost in the forums.
Ah, in fact, I see that someone has already posted it on UserVoice, but it only has 11 votes so far. So people who find this annoying, get busy: start casting your votes for it!

It's also how legitimate business operate. There is an important qualifying word missing... "Some."
My wife has a card with a credit limit of a couple of hundred pounds that she uses for internet shopping.
Me! I just rely on the fact that if I haven't ordered it then I won't have to pay for it. The few times that I have found things that I could not account for on my credit card bill have almost always turned out to be my mistake. In the UK it is the Credit Card company that bears the risk.
I might add that I have never had any problem with Logos and money (apart from me not having enough that is).
I've been burned a couple of times in the past through the internet, enough to be overly cautious with even a limited access card, however, I have never once had a problem with Logos. Logos is one of the most credible companies on the internet. That being said, others will have their opinions and cautions, and the best I can say is to thoroughly check this out for yourself.

It is wise to be caution. As with all things in life we need to be careful who we trust.

Hey JD. No need to worry. I too am extremely cautious, but not one single problem has occurred with Logos. Give them a call and talk to them personally, even call the boss, he's more than available and willing to talk to anyone.
That is so true Bruce.
Here is Logos' latest comment on their plans to change this:
