This is an updated edition of what I wrote earlier to Logos. Logos is to be applauded for making available one of the finest Live of Christ titles as Samuel J. Andrews' The life of Our Lord Upon the Earth. However, I find by way of comparison with my hardback copy significant differences with material absent. My hardback copy of the title reprinted by Zondervan with a copyright date of 1954 is of the April 20, 1900 revised edition. The Logos electronic edition is from an earlier, October 1864 edition. There appears to be a considerable difference between the two editions, as a perusal of each table of contents indicates. The newer (1900) contains much updated source material with addendum, OUTLINE HARMONY OF THE GOSPELS AND CHRONOLOGICAL INDEX, Appendices and “Passages of Scripture referred to in the History.” Further the Zondervan reprint of the 1900 edition includes a biographical introduction by Wilbur M. Smith which has much valuable historical information regarding Andrews. Moreover, I find that the page numbers in my printed edition do not match Logos. I believe all of this to be a significant major difference. The Logos electronic edition is plainly dated. Customers need to be made aware of this. Will this truncated copy be updated and revised? Our church is beginning involvement with DM2's Life of Christ series and Andrews updated work would make excellent collateral material for this. Incidentally my Kregel hardback copy of George N. H. Peters The Theocratic Kingdom contains a valuable biographical introduction of Peters by the indefatigable Wilbur M. Smith which would greatly enhance the electronic edition.
