Be-headings, rejoicing at an opponents death, speared, quartered and burned, and living with a sexually transmitted disease.
Reminds me of a Book that John MacArthur wrote back in 2006, 12 Ordinary men:.
I was thinking that it would be an interesting topic to write a personal book about. The first line in this post refers to Zwingli, the second to Luther the third to the Roman church soldiers and the last to Grebel.
As I read through the various histories of the pre-Reformation and Reformation times and come across how Zwingli had Grebel's dad beheaded, and from that Conrad Grebel died shortly there after that terrible event, no doubt from the shock and being broken hearted. Grebel was not the sight of health. All I could say after reading such events was, "what a jerk!" These were no saints!! However, God in His great mercy and providence used such 'jerks' to His glory. Wow want an amazing God we serve. Now since the Lord has used men like that, there certainly is hope for ALL of us.
I could imagine a book (PB) that writes about the Reformation ages 12 or how ever many ordinary men that God used.
I could see this book outlined something like this:
SECTION ONE:
- Introduction to the main figure
SECTION TWO:
- Their foibles, flaws and faults.
SECTION THREE:
- How the Lord used them in great ways despite the failings.
CONCLUSION:
