Is the iOS product different depending on whether you own L4 or L5?

Hi all,

I'm tempted by the new Logos Reformed versions to consider once again upgrading to L5 from L4.  I'm pretty happy with L4 however, so, I'm doing some research before pulling the trigger.

I was just wondering - if you own L5 - does that mean that your iOS experience also includes the new datasets or functionality that is not available to us peasants still using L4?

Many thanks in advance,

Chris.

    Hi Chris

I appreciate the new packages will cost money but are you aware the core L5 engine is available for free and includes a lot of bug fixes and enhancements? It is available at https://www.logos.com/installation

No - the iOS functionality levels are independent of whether you are running Logos 4 or 5 on the desktop.

And, anyway, the iOS apps don't include a lot of the new functionality in the L5 packages - such as BSL, Timeline, Topic Guide, etc

At some stage in the future (even though I can't think of any current example) I expect there will be functions on the iOS apps that will only work properly when you have Logos 5 on the desktop. I am thinking of the ability to synchronise with new document types. Also I doubt if synchronisation of personal books to mobile devices will work with Logos 4 so you would need Logos 5 to take advantage of that (but we don't know when this will be available)

If I have missed anything major I am sure someone else will comment!

    Thanks Graham,

To be honest I'm very confused about all the different versions of Logos in general and I've lost track since L4 came out.   I am very thankful to you for the link to L5 and I'm currently doing my free upgrade as I type this reply.

    Thanks very much!

You might find the article at http://wiki.logos.com/Upgrade_or_Crossgrade useful. It shows what features are available with which packages. It was produced before the Reformed packages came out so it might not address the particular things you might be interested in

    Thanks very much!

    You are very welcome.
