Dear Friends, will someone please tell me how to refine this search? I want to find all of the occurances of the phrase "sons of God." But, I don't want the phrase "Son of God" included in the results. Thanks for your help.

If you are using L4 uncheck the box under settings that says "match all word forms"
BTW. you get to the settings by clicking on the little down arrow next to the magnifying glass.
Dear Terry, Thaks for getting back to me so quickly. I'm using L 3.0g. There's no down arrow near the magnifying glass. Do you know how to get to the settings box in my Logos version?
Manuel, I don't. Try but there are a bunch of wiz kids on this forum and I am sure one of them will get back with you shortly.
Manuel,
here is the official search page...your answer is in there...
http://www.logos.com/training/basicsearching
But here is what I think you're looking for:
Example:
Searching for
nostem(resume)
would find resume, résumé, RESUME, and so on.
Or
exact(resume)
would find only resume.
You don't need anything in L3 but the search term... Try this search term (copy & paste into search)
Nostem("sons of God")
My L3 found 6 verses in the NIV. None included "son".

But Bill, when I do that on my L3, it pulls up "son of God as well". I abandoned L3 for L4 a while back and I have been going crazy trying to find him an answer [:D]
Searching for exact(resume) would find only resume.
Ok, Robert just as a matter of curiosity. That search term makes it case sensitive as well, is there a way to do with that isn't case sensitive?
Hi Terry,
I don't, as below. When I DIDN'T use NOSTEM & DIDN'T enclose the term in quotes, it did pull up son of God.
Well, I found my problem. Apparently I am an idiot and never learned how to read. Sorry to make you go to the extra work.
I've made MORE than my fair share of mistakes... what ended up making it work for you?
Like someone said in another thread, I'm happy to do it for you because in Christ I'm a brother... [:D]
Blessings!
Apparently I am an idiot and never learned how to read.
You don't even come close to fitting the idiot category - though I don't dare mention which posts fall into that cateogry (even an occasional one from this MVP)

[Y] +1
(Thanks, Martha!)
Actually reading your post and noticing the search terms in your search. That is why I was so ticked off, I was acting like a "USER" and that is the lowest thing you can call someone who works I.T. [:D]
I read so many emails during the day, I tend to skim, which while it normally saves me a lot of time, sometimes doesn't.
Thanks for you and Martha not agreeing with my assessment.
At some point, we're all users. I'm retired I.S./I.T. Now a full time pastor. I'm still claiming I'm retired, though, as this doesn't feel like work. :-)
Blessings to you!
[:D] And I am a former Pastor who is now full time I.T. [:D] (Although my pastor likes tease me with Romans 11.29)
Servers and a network are so much easier on the nerves, than a congregation. [;)]

Guess your pastor was right (wrt your calling to servers & network being irrevocable)!
