In Library details view just performing a Shift + Click on a resource will select all resources below. It works as expected if you first select one resource then Shift + Click on another.

Thanks, Dave! I am grateful! "So much to learn!" Peace!
When I try this it selects from the first element in the list to the element shift+clicked on. Or am I misunderstanding? This is consistent with other list controls, eg. Windows Explorer behaves the same way.

It happens when you don't select a "first element".

What Randy was saying is that the Library will select from the top of the Library to the resource you shift-click. This is also what I'm seeing, which is in fact consistent with Windows Explorer.
So, for example, if you open the Library and (without clicking anything else) shift-click the third item, the first 3 items will be selected. That seems logical to me, are you seeing something different?
Except that when you scroll down, and shift-click, it only selects from the first viewable item down to the clicked on item, which is not consistent with Windows Explorer.

I can reproduce this, and you're correct. I'll make a case for the issue, as I'd imagine the Windows Explorer behavior to be the intended design. As a workaround, just click something before shift-clicking. [;)]
Dave, we found that shift-clicking a resource that is currently selected will select everything beneath it. I don't think that's desired behavior either, but it could be that sometimes the system will register a shift-click as a normal click immediately followed by the shift-click, giving you the behavior you saw. I'll include that in the case as well.
So, for example, if you open the Library and (without clicking anything else) shift-click the third item, the first 3 items will be selected.
If I open Library as a floating window I can do that. But my Library is a tab in a layout and it only happens after I close the tab and then re-open it (when, effectively, NO item has ever been selected).
are you seeing something different?
During normal work in my layout :-
I actually select the item before Shift + Click'ing it, thus undoing any previous selection. The behavior illustrated doesn't happen with Windows Explorer NOR with v 5.2 on the same machine.
