As we all know, Logos users are geniuses. And some of those geniuses have created a script to bump up the votes.

Why not put in a CAPTCHA mechanism?

Not that I want to see Swaggart win...

Its unfortunate that someone actually did this... I had suggested it as a possibility/joke earlier in the voting... Maybe I would have been better off keeping my mouth shut.

The only issue with your IP method is that (for instance) a seminary network may register a lot of hits from the same IP. In my home, my self and my roommates have all been voting. But in the second scenario you should see a handful of votes from the same IP, not hundreds. But in the first one, one might see hundreds - or more.

I trust you guys can sort it out. Perhaps the methods for cheating should be kept under wraps (even suggesting a script might give other people ideas). Maybe my post should be deleted.

Further, your methods for detecting cheaters should be kept under wraps... There are ways to trick someone whose only looking at the IP. Torpark for instance might defeat your countermeasures. (edit this out if you like or let me know and I will).

Thanks, and this is not the first year people have been complaining that some people have 'voted early and voted often.' As you know, more than one person can have the same ip address. For an example, a wife and husband could be sharing the same computer. Another example is a computer lab at a seminary. So, just going by ip address cannot be a permanent solution.

I doubt it, but sadly I think this has been going on throughout the whole march madness sale this year. This maybe the last year they have it. Some of these votes seem completely out there. like the 3000 and 4000 votes somethings wrong with that!

The same thing was happening last year. While I cannot remember the year before that, it has been going on for some time now; not just this round.

If there was cheating by casting multiple votes, then the guilty party or parties need to held accountable. I believe it would be in Logos best interest to at least let Logos users know what security features will be in place to keep it from happening again.

Logos is not really accountable to us, other than in terms of dissatisfaction = less sales = hurts their business. How do you want people to be held accountable? Suspend their Logos accounts? At this stage it's probably hard to nail down who exactly is doing the 'cheating.' As I recall, 'one vote per user' was clearly the spirit of the contest. But people are sinners, even self-professing Christians and Bible students, so we shouldn't be shocked, though it is definitely disappointing.

This is a contest, so at worst we're losing a discount, not a bank account or Social Security number, so Logos doesn't have to tell us what they're doing behind the scenes. Further, if they do say what they're doing, it makes it that much easier for whomever to circumvent the security mechanisms. And there will be someone popping up to complain about it.

So, let's just assume they're working on it, and hope for the best.

I thought we were allowed to vote multiple times. [^o)] Personally, I don't know how to bump any script, but doesn't common sense tell you that if you clear/delete your browser's history it automatically resets everything and it lets you vote again? [:^)] I don't know, at this point, as along as Lloyd or Carson/Fee wins, I don't care. Spurgeon is great (my respects to him) but he goes on sale too many times during the year and I still don't buy his titles (except the ones on CP which I've ordered). So from now on 50%, 60% and 75% are considered great discounts, to me at least.
