BUG 5.2a RC1 Mac: Open = Open In A Floating Window

Library: Open = Open in a floating window reminded me of a Mac bug that I believe has been there as long as Logos for Mac has existed, but for which I'm not sure there has ever been a case filed:

1) Right-click on the Library icon.

2) Try out the options.

That post is dated to version 5.1 but NB Mick seems to have a different experience to the OP (Verbum?). But PC v5.2 and v5.2a have Open = Open in a floating window, and both versions open Library in a dropdown when its icon is clicked.

Question: Why even have Option 1?

OK. Yet there are three ways to open the Library (dropdown, tab and floating window), and three options in the right-click menu, so clearly the three options should open in the three different ways, not two options open in the same way and none open in the dropdown. I assume we agree on that.[:)]

So the two of you are saying that instead of fixing this on Mac, they have broken it on PC, and changed it to be broken in another way on 10.9? That makes sense....[:S][:#]

Oops [:$] Did not read your post carefully enough [:$]. Your analysis of a right-click on the Library icon is correct, and Logos should fix the bug.

Not necessarily. Consider Search:-

Click = Open = Open in new tab. There is no dropdown and Open in a floating window does just that. So Library is little eccentric but its default Open is in a floating window vs a new tab for Search.

The important thing here is that 10.6 and 10.9 should agree.

As do I. I'm seeing fgh's behavior in 10.9, so that's consistent at least. And I agree "Open" should do something different from the other two options, so the dropdown makes sense. I'll make a case.

You're correct, those two are also confusing: two different ways of opening, but three options in the right-click menu.

I suggest removing Open in those two menus, and only keeping the two clearly defined options. And I suggest renaming Open in the Library right-click menu to Open In Dropdown, or something similar. This way there will be no more surprises as to how something opens.

And while you're at it, Logos, it would be very helpful if it was possible to open the Library in the dropdown even though it's already open in a tab or floating window. Sometimes it's very inconvenient to have to destroy a carefully created filtering and sorting in order to quickly find a book one needs to check something. And we have also asked for the ability to open two Library or Collection tabs simultaneously. And History arrows in Library, to get back to earlier filtering/sorting without having to redo it all again.

And while you're at it, fix the inconsistency that some right-click menus capitalize all words, while others only capitalize the first, even for the exact same command. (Cf a right-click on Library with one on TC.)

This is only an issue on Mac with Library, Search, and Shortcut context menus. Items under Documents/Guides/Tools and all menus on Windows are correct. I've made a case.

So the ones without capitalization are the correct ones? Either way, there are plenty more places where it's inconsistent.

There are more instances non-capitalized than capitalized, and I felt that would be correct. Just because I report an issue one way doesn't mean that's the way it will be fixed. [;)] But it does mean it will be looked at.

Yes, I did, though going from changing a context menu to redesigning major features doesn't qualify for a "While you're at it". [:)]

Having multiple Library windows has been determined to be something we can't do with our current Library implementation:
