Resource loading inconsistencies

I'm just reporting trouble I have had with resources downloading. I purchased the Basic Languages packages and when I installed the MAC image file and ran the program it seemed to download resources well - a 3.6Gb download and appeared to index things correctly. However, the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible was not present ... and this is the version that I would like to use as my default!

I then tried installing the program on my other MAC, and the NRSV showed up. Checking the forum posts, I saw something about an 'Update Resources' command on the 'Command Bar' (or something similar) but I can't find the 'command bar' (doubtless my obtuseness) and have been unsuccessful in fixing this on my computer. Any other ideas?

A lot of people unfortunately have been having similar issues with Resources. There is a bug in the resource downloader/installer process that will be fixed in the next alpha that should make the "update resources" command work again on L4 Mac. The command bar is the text entry field right next the magnifying glass (Search) icon. From there you can type all sorts of commands to make the app do things. Once Alpha 9 comes out, you should just be able to type "Update Resources" and click on the "update resources" option in the command bar and all your missing resources will be re-downloaded and installed.

I have upgraded to Alpha 5, and the 'Update resources' command does appear in the selection box that results. However, when I press <Return> a search results rather than any logging in, updating, and downloading of resources. I'm not sure if this is still a bug, or my mistaken efforts.

Jeff, you need to read the options that pop up and click the correct one instead of just hitting <ENTER>

Typing the command and clicking the <ENTER> key selects the top option on the list to "search" your library for the words "Resource Update" so Logos is doing what you asked, it is searching for those words. the program is working fine, you simply need to read the options.

If you look carefully at your list, there is an option that actually says, Update Resources. If you use your mouse and click on this command, it tells Logos to update the resources instaed of searching your library for those words.

And as Felipe says, please make sure you are using Alpha 9, not Alpha 5 which is now many weeks old.

Thanks to all who have replied. I am using Alpha 9 (I'm not sure how I typed 5!), and I have used the mouse rather than the Return key as Joe suggested. Clicking on the 'Update resources' item in the drop down list puts the text 'Update resources' into the command line but nothing happens after that. (In the past, I have used the arrow keys to select the option - I wasn't hitting Return or Enter until the 'Update resources' text was present without the 'Search for ' preface.)

I'll experiment a bit more with this over the next day and seeif I can figure anything else out.

Be sure you're selecting update resources and not search for resources. That's what I was doing. Once I followed the instruction it's downloading the resources as I type. I haven't been able to find my reverse interlinear for some time now. Hope it shows.

[:@] Arrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh! Updated resource. Have ESV reverse interlinear in L3. But still doesn't show in L4 Alpa 9. Started with 446 resources then updated resource (339 GB) and still have 446.

Oppps! [:$] After doing more searching I see that ESV Reverse is not implemented yet. I thought I had read that someone was using it. Still I have been using L4 for sermon prep for the last two weeks and those things working seem to be working fine but slow. Thanks Logos for the continued updates that give us hope.

Wow you downloaded 339 Giga Bytes. I did not know that was possible.. [;)] No need to get frustrated though, you just need to understand why the ESV RL is not there. in L4, Logos took a different approach to interlinears and they are no longer separate resources. Instead they are integrated into the Bibles. However, because so many people wanted them back a a separate resource, Logos is planning on bringing them back, I think, the 2nd quarter of this year.

In the future, if you have a bug or problem it is easier to start a new thread instead of tacking your concern onto someone else's thread. Starting your own thread makes it easier to find and helps keep communication lines a bit cleaner. Thanks :-)

Thanks again to all for the help. Joe - The blue Logos icon DID appear in the menubar when I followed your instructions, and the NRSV volume has appeared in my library. The icon still is present - even when I start up the computer without having started Logos4 this session but I assume that means that it is still indexing or something.

I haven't checked all the other resources, but I'm delighted to have the NRSV available - Thanks!

Jeff, that is good news. The icon will keep working until indexing is done and go away when finished. Anytime there are updates to the program or to resources in your library, the blue icon will pop up on its own and update things for you.
