Logos freezes daily on my Mac and have to force quit and restart

Very frustrated with Logos. I love the app and have been using it for over a decade. However, since switching to Mac in 2008, I've had a love/hate relationship with the software.

Past aside, my current situation is I must force quit the app at least once a day, often more and restart it. I've put up with it for so long but like the Chinese water torture it's finally driving me crazy!

My Mac should be able to handle it. It is a 2 year old MacBook Pro. A few months ago I upgrade the RAM (8 GB total now) in an attempt to address this specific issue.

Anyone else have the same issue? Anyone have a solution?

Quick update: This AM I have just had to force quit twice in a row and haven't even been able to use my app. Am now going to restart with hopes that it self corrects. [:@]

I have the same problem but no solution. I notice it most often if my MBP goes to sleep. I may force quite Logos two or three times a day and send the report to Logos each time I restart Logos.

I really appreciate Logos, but this is a frustration that Mac users have had for quite some time. I don't understand why it continues to be so.

Bill & Bill: Have you updated to 5.2a? The waking from sleep problem was repaired when that version was in Beta. Not sure that is was then installed in the Stable version.

From my experience the last few days, that bug seems to be fixed in 5.2a RC1, which I imagine will go stable fairly shortly.

Thanks, Jack. I have my Logos set to update automatically and checked to find I have 5.2 SR-4 (5.2.0.0110). I did the "Update Now" command and was informed no updates are available. What am I missing?

Logos 5.2a is in RC1 stage which means it isn't deployed on the stable channel as yet

However, 5.2 is at SR-6 so it is strange that you aren't getting notification about that (not that SR-6 solves this particular problem!)

If your install gets stuck (as yours appears to have done), download the engine and install manually. See the link in my signature line.

Thanks, Alabama. That got me to 5.2 SR-6. It looks like we need 5.2a to solve our problem. Hopefully, that will be out soon.

Update: After yesterday's app update installed I have had no problems w/ Logos even after sleep mode. I am cautiously optimistic!

How funny that I put up with it for years and finally complained the very day it was (hopefully) solved. I'm sure there's a lesson in there somewhere...

Bill, this is my experience, too. I haven't had to force quit since updating a couple of days ago. I'm grateful that Logos has evidently fixed this.

Brothers, If you can help...

I'm having the same issue with Logos 5 freezing several times daily. My system tells me that I have an old version (5.1b), but I cannot figure out how to manually update. It is not showing up in my Mac Software Update, nor is there an update button in "About Logos." What am I missing?

It is not showing up in my Mac Software Update,

Logos isn't sold or distributed through the Mac App Store, so you won't get updates through that method. NORMALLY, you should get an update automatically, but there is obviously a glitch here somewhere. Did you change your "use internet" setting to off? If so, that would be the problem.

One way to get the update is to try the command "update now" in the command bar. Another option is to download the engine directly. See the link in my signature line. If that doesn't work, please create a new thread and explain the issue again. It is best to create a new thread for new issues. Although your symptoms may SEEM similar to the one listed here, we don't know that... plus, it is easier to help one person at a time. Otherwise we talk over one another.

That restart fix was the most important fix for Logos for me. For years it was unstable and I belly-ached occasionally on this forum, but mostly just didn't use the program. It has been stable for me since this fix and I notice the complaints on this forum have gone down dramatically. That long experience of years of instability on a product I invested hundreds and hundreds of dollars in left a certain bad taste in my mouth. But time and good mouth-wash will probably completely take it away!
