I wonder if there is a tool that allows us to highlight any particular text from whatever resource and add a tag to that highlighted section, which would come up in a search query. If there is not, what would it take to add that to the Logos toolkit?

When you highlight text you can associate a note with it and include a search tag within the note

An example below:

Then when you search for the tag you get something like:

I don't think it's exactly what you are looking for but hopefully it will help

I suppose that is my goal: to be able to search for topics or words that I associate with a particular section of text from any resource, especially if that word is not explicit in the text. As I think about what I dislike about the solution you presented, I find 1) I like to keep my notes on books separate from one another, therefore, this, for me, would necessitate a cumbersome note collection, 2) this process seems slightly clumsy and could be streamlined by adding a feature to the right-mouse click, which would add tags as one types (maybe visually confirmed by highlighting the text with a small icon indicating a location of an in-text tag) under everything else, and 3) I would love to be able to simply open a document of only quotations which I have tagged a certain word or words (I suppose a search would accomplish this, but I'd like it to maybe even become a document) - even if i didn't keep all my notes separate I don't believe this third concern of mine would be possible (this is yet again another way to streamline a search or overview of sections of resources I find to be important to me regarding a particular topic).

Anyway, for the time being, this is a good solution for my concerns and I truly do appreciate your time. However, what would it look like to make some sort of official request for this to happen? That would be incredible!

One option is creating a personal book with Topics and references to resources.

Logos Basic Search includes "My Content" section. A Basic Search of All Text in Entire Library includes all occurrences in Notes:

Highlighting styles can be assigned keyboard shortcuts => http://wiki.logos.com/Highlighting so can highlight a range of words then press a key.

Highlighting style name can have desired tag. Optional is color and/or image to visibly markup text: e.g. this Crown style has an image in the left margin:

All Highlights are notes so can search for highlighted words, with results appearing in My Contents:

By default, highlights are created in a Notes file, which has the same name as the Highlighting palette. Caveat: when many words are highlighted, the Note file can have ". . ." in the middle so searching becomes useless. For example, search cannot find "victor" in the note file even though highlighted text included victor's.

I love your problem-solving skills. Thanks for the multiple available options for my predicament. I really liked your idea of labeling highlighter pens. I'll definitely begin with that.

There is a suggestion already for this, so go vote for it. It has 59 votes already but needs three times that many to make it to the first page of requests, which are the ones that tend to get the most attention from Logos. So pass the word along and urge others to vote for it too.
