Community Tagging

To my knowledge there is no existing functionality in Logos to do this so here is something I was thinking would be a valuable tool for Logos to implement.

Sometimes I want to search for a particular group of objects. For example, I may want to see every verse that talks about various kinds of money. I could search individually for words like "shekel", but that would exclude other kinds of money like denarius.

What I would like to see is the ability in logos for users to tag any word in the bible with a particular word and then provide the ability to search those "community tags" for a particular group of objects like money.

So then I could search for "money" in community tags and it would yield all the verses where a word in that verse was tagged with the word "money". You could then search for rivers, lakes, trees, plants, insects, etc.

Is there a similar way to do this now?

There is community tagging, but only at the full resource level.

There isn't even any personal tagging of just parts of resources. It has been proposed in a feature request called "Passage Tagging" -- go vote for it on UserVoice. I've added a comment there and linked to this thread.

If you have it Clause Search uses word tagging to achieve much the same. You can search Person, Place or Thing which you will see in the context menu of words in some bibles e.g. type thing:money and you will get a suggestion to search for:-

thing:money, coins, currency

with results for both OT and NT. You can also search for money as Object or Subject of a clause (hence Clause Search).

You need the Silver package and above or the Logos 5 Minimal Crossgrade for this Search

Dave, I will try that clause search. I think the extent I have used it has been for searches like "verb: to love". I didn't realize you could make a search like "thing: Money". There are so many "hidden" features of Logos!
