Update ~ Highlighting seems more laborious

Hello, hope you are all doing well. Did the app update today and was going thru my usual study (willie the highlighting machine)... but now it feels like highlighting verses has become more laggy than usual. Also the way of just removing/deleting a single highlighted verse is toilsome* now. Just saying

Yes, this appears to be an issue.  I'll write up a case.

On second thought I might need more information.  Do you have overlapping highlights and do you have the Swipe to Highlight setting turned on?

Are you running the latest stable version of the app (4.1.9)? If so, you can do a single tap on a highlight and click the trash can icon to quickly delete a highlight. We used to have a "Remove annotations" button in the menu bar, but that was a temporary fix when we didn't support editing notes. The "Remove annotations" button was removed quite a while ago.

I had this problem recently too, and it was determined to be user error. You need to simply tap quickly on an existing highlight to get this option, not press and hold which brings up the menu you're showing.

A single tap will bring up "Edit Highlight":

Then press on Edit Highlight to get to this screen:

Then choose "Delete" and then confirm it. Yes, it's a four-step process (ugh!) but it's doable.

Actually Rosie, it's much simpler in the latest stable version. Just a single tap on the highlight and then this menu appears:

You can tap the trash can to delete your highlight in one step (or two, depending on how you're counting).

    Logos Phone Home

DH, that new way works :) thx.

But there's always been this LAG when highlighting something. Isn't that because the app phones-home everytime with what verse I'm highlighting? Not sure & just curious.

Glad that works for you. [:)]

The lag happens if you have a lot of highlights, and it's because of the way highlights are loaded when we go to display them on the screen. There are some performance improvements we plan on making that should speed things up considerably, but that task hasn't made it to the top of the priority queue quite yet.
