What if I just want to buy a Bible?

Let's say I want to buy a Bible. An English Bible. I would like to browse a plain simple list of English Bibles.

I don't want maps, commentaries, journals, epistles or Episcopalians (no offense!). I don't want Aramaic fragments. I don't want Tar-Gum fragments. Or Earliest Greek manuscripts. No Yemenite, Codex, Kodak, no Novum or Old-vum or any-vum. I just want plain simple English Bibles.

If I am at the product page, how do I get that list?

Thanks Rosie. That is a big improvement. It still picks up a lot of other stuff intermingled with REAL Bibles.

Wouldn't it be nice if the list of options, say under "Resource Type" was alphabetized? I guess they are in descending order of number of resources. That's fine.

Oddly, When I follow your directions I get quite a different list--with no Resource Type "Bibles." I must be doing something different. Maybe there are too few Bibles to show up on the list?

If I do not choose English first, but choose Resource Type | Bibles and then choose English, I can do it that way.

Looks like this below, but also seems to get different results --with not a few Greek Bibles.

I wonder why they didn't put a un-carrot button.

Every now and then I make the mistake of using the carrot list (which usually means clicking several levels down) only to decide I should have taken a differing path. To get back you have to go to the drop down menu and start over. In some cases, the drop down menu is not at the top. But on a product page, it's long gone. So I quickly don't eat the carrots.

Then there's the un-more button-ish. If the more button had a lot of stuff, the un-more button places your pre-more list out of sight at the top. Now like MANY on the forum, we all do HTML coding, and managing the viewed top-row is pretty basic.

And while I'm on it (sorry Rosie and Gao), the external tracking cookie from optimizely I always delete, and the shockwave-flash load on product pages simply means somebody at Logos isn't familiar with safe browsing these days. Give the viewer the choice.

If so, these selections can be de-selected individually to "go down another path".

I concur that it's very unfortunate that the Logos website takes all of this away once you hit a singe product page .

You can also hit the "Back" button in your browser, which is sometimes quicker than finding the most recent "facet" (which is what those X-able words are called) to remove.

George was poking fun at you about Bugs Bunny because that icon isn't a carrot, it's a caret. (Which is also distinct from a carat, the unit of measure of diamond weight. All pronounced the same. And perhaps you don't care at all.)

It still doesn't work to pick an English carrot and expect a bible to show up. It doesn't on my computer. Even if I pluck out the cookies.

I still wish I could find a plain simple list of bibles.

Or wouldn't it be nice to at least be able to search like we do in our libraries "type:bible" ?

Gao, I don't think you're going to make much headway.

(1) Your suggestion of course makes sense (especially the matching of the site filter with the flagship software filter).

(2) Logos.com is predominantly a religious book store (thus Bibles are not recognized as a shoppable category).

(3) If they did what you wanted, they might sell more Bibles (if indeed they were sellable; there's quite a number in CP, so this may be just a hypothesis)

Rosie, I thought a lot about 'not care at all'. It's certainly a good 'catch' for us rabbits! I think there's a point where the design simply becomes an angry-fier. I have a coffee caraff that just can not pour coffee. Made by Mr Coffee himself. I wonder each time, don't Mr Coffee people pour coffee? When it spills all over their conference table, what do they think?

For the Logos site, I think the best example is the real estate sites. You check off what you're looking for, and they deliver in the order you're seeking. Bibles (check). English (check). Modern (check). Notice that 'more than 1' can be checked. How convenient.
