How do I reference a book in a Scripture passage?

For example; I'm reading through Michael Horton's Introducing Covenant Theology and on page 41 he references Genesis 15 with an interesting comment from antiquity.

How do I insert a reference to Horton's comment at the end of Genesis 15 verse 17? I don't want to insert a quote or sentence, but just a "cf."
