I've just received the Logos 5 Gold package today. The Install Disc was installed smoothly, but the Resources Disc didn't do anything except starting the Logos program. Can anyone help? What's on that disc?
Insert the Resources disc into your drive then go to the Command box at the top of the Logos main window and type Scan DVD (PC) or Scan Optical Media (Mac), and that should discover and index the resources.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your tips. But it still does nothing. I placed the DVD in another PC which doesn't have Logos installed. It brought up the install screen and ran through the install process quickly and then nothing happened. I wonder if the disc is defective.
I wasn't aware you could get L5 on disk. Cool.
I saw the Logos icon on the desktop of the other PC. I click on it and it asked me to login and started to download 6.2 GB of updates. It seems it just installed the software. I'm waiting to see if it just doing the same as the Install Disc. Will post result when it's done.
If it is downloading 6.2 GB that is a resource download. It sounds like your resources are downloading and will then have to index. This page on the wiki may be of value http://wiki.logos.com/Installation_and_Indexing_FAQ$27s
I hate trying to 'improve' on Dave's advice, since he knows ten times more than me, but I believe you need to restart Logos after the Scan command, in order to get it to actually start scanning.
That said, if you don't have a problem with downloading, it's better to do it that way. Otherwise you'll just get a new download with updated resources as soon as you've finished, and end up having to index twice.
... but I believe you need to restart Logos after the Scan command, in order to get it to actually start scanning.
That behaviour would be quite counter-intuitive.

But it is how it works.
one of the benefits of this approach is you can "queue"multiple scans, restart Logos and all the scans will be executed
How about a new command "scan now" ? [:)]
Weird. Would have been nice to know that the few times I've tried to use the command
There still isn't a tooltip about it? I've asked for one several times.
nope...
I did restart Logos, and have tried several times, but still no indication of it working.
The download is working on another PC, which I only used the Resource Disc to install. It's performing the indexing right now.
Have you tried the same Login & got a large download on the original PC? What version of Logos (from Help >> About...)?
I only logged once during installation and since it automatically login for every restart. Do you mean I try logout and then login again?
The download has completed and indexing is done. How do I verify the resources are installed. Do you happen to know what's supposed to be on that disc?
The full list of Gold Base Package titles can be found on the product page for Logos 5 Gold, or in the unofficial spread sheet Randy and I put together which is located here.
Thanks for your help. But, it would be nice to have a list of what's on the Install Disc and what's on the Resource Disc.
One more question, are all the installed resources also have a copy stored in the Cloud?
All the official resources are hosted on servers leased by Logos, yes.

There isn't much in terms of documentation with the package. Only a few sheets of Getting Started instructions, but nothing is mentioned about the number of discs. Thanks anyway.

That is immaterial because:
So just compare what is in Library with what is listed on the Gold product page. The Library Find box will tell you how many resources you have.
Start Logos with the CTRL key held down and re-login by entering your details again (have the Disc in the drive). If necessary type update resources in the Command box (no need to restart).
Thanks for your help and all the tips.
Blessings,
Richard
