Difficulty With Collection Commands

I am trying to create a collection of my New Testament Commentaries. I am trying to exclude Old Testament commentaries from this collection. My problem is that I can't seem to exclude the Old Testament commentaries by using the command ANDNOT subject:"O.T."

I am not used to using this command language and I am sure that I have done something incorrect.

I am copying an image of my screen to illustrate the problem I am having.

Put the first three terms in brackets... (A OR B OR C) ANDNOT D

I suspect by default it is interpreting your rule as A OR B OR (C ANDNOT D), thus your problem...

NOTE:. I could not test the exact string on my L4, but it works with other authors, etc.

I find using all the OR's and AND's to be too confusing. I haven't played around enough with collections to be 100% sure about this style, but here goes:

+title:"*ommentar*" +type:"Commentar*" +author:"Ironside" -subject:"O.T"

From what I can see happening on my system:

1)Using the "+" and "-" syntax forces case sensitivity

2)The Wildcard * are allowed at the front or back of a search term

I find this much easier on the brain. Just ad a "+" to force exact match, and minus to exclude what you want. No brackets or extra syntax to make reading the search string a problem.

I changed the code for my New Testament Commentary Collection to:
(title:commentary OR type:"bible commentary" OR author:Ironside) AND subject:"N.T."

The code for my Old Testament Commentary Collection is:
(title:commentary OR type:"bible commentary" OR author:Ironside) AND subject:"O.T."
