Irritating Automation

Does anyone else find it irritating that clicking on Tools/Collections automatically creates a new collection whether one wants it or not? Or maybe I'm missing something. Is there another way to open an existing collection (other than searching) without going through Tools/Collections?

T.P. ... the immense silence up to now is likely due to this being around for five years or so. And yes, it's irritating. But worth yet one more whine (from earlier users), no.

The best way to look at it, is to remember Logos itself is rumored to have some Logos users. So, yes, each time they want to adjust a collection rule, they have to dutifully delete the new collection they didn't ask for. Grit their teeth covered in the Logos medical/dental plan. And just keep going.

This is an excellent example of a tiny company becoming a small company. In the old days (1990s) the coders/owners would be embarrassed. But with growth, the question is 'the process'. I'm guessing they have a budget for each change and when they reach their budget, well, that's all she wrote. So, another user yesterday wondered why you couldn't print the Bible Sense Lexicon results. Well, gee.

But I should not be critical. I bought some great media resources from Another Bible Software Co. Downloaded to my iPad fine. Wouldn't download to my PC at all. Of course, I also have some earlier A-Company purchases that similarly can't download (server times out it's so slow). But I'm too exhausted from Logos-whining, to whine to A-Company. Or the Tree Co about my purchased resources they failed to mention don't have licenses from their publisher.

So, just delete the collection and make sure your dental plan is up to date.

You can create a shortcut. Open Collections to a collection of your choice. Drag the tab to Favorites. Then drag it from there to the shortcut bar. Finally delete the entry from Favorites if you don't want it there.

(If you drag directly to the shortcut bar it will open to the Unnamed Collection, so you need to use the detour. The same technique can be used for several other things you may want to open to a particular setting.)

Hmm ... yes and no. Just yesterday(?), I deleted several of them (numbered unnamed collections). So maybe Logos got tired too and stopped numbering them. But pinning collections to avoid a blank collection ... I presume one would have to pin a whole slew of them.

I get around that by having Collections as part of my layout i.e. in a tab.

Another option is saving a layout; for library management, personally have a layout with two tabs: Collections and Library:
