Couple of Observations

I am in the DVD group... but couldn't wait to see v4. Couple of things/questions:

1. The TWOT links seem to be broken. I cannot get TWOT to oben from any other resource (i.e. DBD, DBL Hebrew, etc)

2. Passage Guide and Collections: In v.3 I could set up multiple collections to show up in my Passage Guide. In v.4, unless I am missing something, I can only set up one collection to show in the Passage Guide and I have to click on the pull down menu to the right to check different collections. Is there going to be a way to add multiple collections to the passage guide as in v.3?

3. Notes and Hyperlinking: I know that I can add a note in my Bible and it will creat a link. I may be missing something here again. But in v.3 I could set up a hyperlink in a note to jump to a resource without having to add a note in that resource. I see the pop up formating menu in v.4 notes but cannot figure out how to create the hyperlink.... can't find any info in the help either.

4. PBB question... I have not seen anyone ask or found any answer.. is v.4 able to read the PBB files if they are in the resource folder?

5. Will v.4 find new resources copied to the v.3 resource folder or v.4 resource folder? I ask because I will be getting some prepubs next week and curious if they will show up in v.4 or if there is even a way to get them into v.4 short of reindexing for hours.

Like everyone else.... slow indexing but fast searching ;)

Thanks,

Jim

    Couple of other link issues:

In resource, DBL Greek, I cannot get the Strongs or TDNT links to take me to those resources. When I hover my pointer over the hyperlink it actually shows me the pop up of the DBL Greek entry...

Is this an indexing issue, a resource issue or UE... User Error? [:S]

In resource BDAG i was on entry πρῶτος... i went to click on the link to Rob.516; 662 which is a resource I do not have in my resources.... i get a crash.

It seems that if i click on any link of a resource that i do not have in my library, i get a crash. The link is blue.. not greyed out btw.

The broken links for some of the strongs and TWOT entries. I was perusing the indexing log.... found some errors around some resources ignoring strongs and TWOT links.

I checked to make sure I had the latest and most up to date TWOT file... I do, but it is dated 7/14/06

    File attached

TWOT (and many of the resources that link to it) need to be rebuilt to work optimally with Logos 4. These are not available yet.

    4. PBB (creating or reading) is not supported in Logos 4 Beta 1.

    5. If you install the prepub into LDLS3 first (and activate it online), the next time you start Logos 4 (again, if you are online), it will download your new licenses from the server and try to find the resource files for those licenses. If you copied the resources to your LDLS3 Resources folder (e.g., by using Location Manager in LDLS3 after installing the prepub), then Logos 4 will find them. You will need to re-prepare and re-index your library to access them in Logos 4.

Thanks, Bradley.... when you say re-prepare and re-index.. will this take place automatically or will I have to manually launch the Logos4Indexer?

I will hopefully have 86 volumes of Charles Spurgeon to add to the library come 9/14 ;)

It will all happen automatically when you launch Logos 4 from the Start Menu (or desktop icon).

Hi Bradley,  What I am asking is based on "it will download your new licenses from the server and try to find the resource files for those licenses"--which server is being referred to?  Doesn't the fact my Libronix licenses have been updated through downloading and installing the prepub license and resource file via Libronix Updater cause my  licenses on my system to be most current?  Does Logos 4 need to get information from a server and not from my own system's updated licenses to "make" the new resource work in Logos 4?  I hope this makes sense.  Thanks for your help.

    Hi Joan,

When you install the prepub into your existing LDLS3 product, your LDLS3 licenses (stored in a file on your hard disk) are updated. Activating the product (in LDLS3) lets our license server know that you have purchased and installed that product (and also what your serial number is). Up to this point, all changes are recorded in your LDLS3 license file only. Logos 4 uses a different license file (because we hope that there will be many brand new Logos 4 customers who are not upgrading from LDLS3). To get the new licenses into Logos 4, they are downloaded from our activation/licensing server, not from reading your LDLS3 license file and importing the licenses. So, after activating a prepub in LDLS3, you have to go online (at least once) and download the licenses to get the same books in Logos 4. This will all happen completely automatically if you are online when you start Logos 4; it will check for updated licenses on the server and download them automatically.

Sorry if my initial post was confusing; please let me know if there's anything else you want to know.
