Logos 4.0 has encountered a problem!

Logos worked fine Monday after upgrade to 4.0a. (Didn't use on Tuesday) When i went to use yesterday it continually comes up with encountered problem and closes (after wanting to send error report - tried to do that but took soooo loooong - so cancelled).

Since then have done a System Restore to last time worked OK but same problem.

Any thoughts? Don't really want to reinstall as huge GB download + time pain - and not even sure if that would work.

Have checked other threads but no help.

Thanks for the help guys. Can now get in with Blank Screen and have found my log file.

Can get to my Layouts OK but when hit the home button Logos crashes.

Have looked at forums but can't figure how to use the log file. Does this go into the Forum area? It's got so much text - couple of wanringns about setting focus.

I have had similar problem and by starting using crtl key and blank screen and selecting a layout it worked. However as soon as I clicked on home screen the program crashed again.

I'm a very new user - only purchased 3 days ago. After an incredibly slow download (indexing took hardly any time by comparison), the software worked fine for the first 12 hours. Then when I tried to open it, it would get my email and password and then cvrash at the initial screen. At that stage, being so new, I hadn't found these forums - didn't see any clear references to them in the install instructions. I did an uninstall and have just started reinstalling 2% of 4.28GB. Perhaps a FAQ on installation problems would be worthwhile - so that it stands out for those of us who have never used Logos before.

Is there a way of saving the downloaded files - eg burning them to DVD, as if we'd purchased a DVD version so that if we have to do a reinstall, we don't have the massive download? Fortunately I've got plenty of quota left this month, but since it now looks like my laptop will be tied up for another 24hours doing the install, I'm really wondering whether buying Logos was worth it. Hopefully a few of you can reassure me that Logos is a great tool once I can get it working.

I must say that all three of these methods look very complicated for someone without an IT degree - the need to go offline, disconnect my network cable etc. I don't care about the time to re-index, was only a couple of hours, the big problem is how long it takes to download and the cost of doing this if I hadn't had an unusually light month and lots of spare download allowance left.

Perhaps a simple menu option somewhere labelled 'backup resources to an external drive' and then an option in the installer to either do a completely new install or restore resources from backup would make these options viable for a typical user such as myself. Users could even be prompted 'Would you like to make an external backup of your resources now (recommended)?' as part of the initial install, either before or after indexing.

What's the best way for me to pass this suggestion on to Logos? By the time I initially posted here I was well and truly fed up and close to just writing my purchase off as a bad investment and I'd like to spare future purchasers the same frustration.
