I can't remember what the red circles in the Text Comparison tool represent.
IIRC the red circles correspond to the base text that would appear as crossed out text in the desktop app. It is simply omitted in the iOS app so a circle marks where it would have been. The changed text is in blue and the text that the version shares in common with the base text is in black as in the desktop app.
