Detailed Written Documentation?

There is a whole lot of things that Logos 5 can do. However, I really want detailed documentation on what can be done and how to do it. The video tutorials are fine, the brief statements on the wiki or helpful too, and my own clicking around is interesting, but would like far more detailed documentation than any of these. Is there more detailed info available? Thanks.

That's been my question since Day 1 with Logos 5.

There is the wiki, which is user-written, but very thorough in many areas. Worth reading through some of the introductory pages and browsing around at links from there.

There is also the Logos 5 Training Manual Set (2 vols.), written by a third-party, Morris Proctor, who is Logos's official trainer. It's sold by Logos and is the most "official" Logos documentation. Logos itself doesn't produce anything like it, though they do have some FAQ articles about a few features and support articles for Windows and Mac on their website, and their blog, which occasionally discusses features in detail.

My advice is to bite the bullet and buy these manuals. Fabulous resource that you'll refer to time and again.

It's been a very long time since I purchased any software that came with detailed manuals and with Logos a program that is continually being updated it would be time consuming and expensive to have up to date manuals. A lot of people get excited by the Morris Procter material. Personally i find it to be at a very basic level, but it may be of value to you - I just don't think there is enough useful information in there for the price MP charges. What I find most helpful is actual example's of how people use Logos. And these forums are the best source of that sort of material along with user created videos. But the best way to learn it to use the program. Try out the features you are not familar with, see what they do and then use your experience to generate questions to come and ask here on the forums. As long as you don't 'hide' your whole library, delete all your user created documents or delete the files directly from your hard drive, you won't break the software - so open it up, start clicking on menu options, right click on other things and ask questions on the forums about what you would like to be able to do if you can't work it out - Logos is not always obvious immediately about how to do things - you might just get the answer your are looking for or come up with a great enhancement for the program.
