5.2a SR-1 Smart Selection - how is it supposed to work?

Sometimes I can click on one word inside a verse, say in ESV, and then the end word of that same verse, and it selects the whole verse - sometimes I can do the exact same click-selections, and it will select a "paragraph", or series of verses. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what it is selecting. Am I doing it correctly?

How is Smart selection supposed to work?

I turned it off. I prefer the old fashioned way of selecting what I want.

Thanks Graham. I have to say it's not working that way. Here is what I see using Acts 24:5 in ESV:

1.. Selecting the 'und' of 'found' selects 'found' - correct

2. selecting the 'e' and 'f' of 'have found' selects 'have found' - correct

3. selecting 'we' through 'ringleader' selects everything through those words. Shouldn't this select all of Acts 24:5?

4. Selecting 'way of 24:3 through 'found' in 24:4 selects that, no more. Shouldn't that select all of Acts 24:3 - 24:4?

In summary, I see now way it selects an entire paragraph or full verse without just doing that yourself. It seems it just takes a select of partial words and includes all the words - nothing greater.

From the post I linked to: "and dragging into any other words will instantly select those whole words. Continuing to drag into any additional sentences will select those full sentences, then paragraphs"

"We" through "ringleader" is all within the same sentence so it is just at "word level" at this point. If you go from "we" in v5 to "He" at the start of v6 then both sentences are selected

Do you mean "found" in 24.5? (I don't see "found" in v4).

And that does select all of 24:3-5

Peace! *smile* Not being completely sure of what I am doing, I just turned on the text selection in the control panel and will be looking for any changes in the performance of my Logos 5.

What should I be looking for, please? I've looked all over for "documentation"; however, am unable to find any ...

As a result of Don and then Milford, I tried it out too. It's kind of interesting, though unpredictable. I notice it likes my ESV and my Dorothy Day PBB (that does open!!). But it doesn't like my DSS Bible at all. I assume it has something to do with paragraphing.

But the interplay with the CitedBy, Explorer, and Power Lookup is quite fascinating (meaning when it bounces a paragraph, the tools of course update as they would if you highlighted the text manually).

I think if my resources had more space, it'd be a nice addition. But I typically have 12 or so panels open per window, so the power-highlighting disappears to who knows where.

I'd definitely recommend it for anyone doing original languages or heavy use of CitedBy, and Power Lookup.
