ACK!!! Personal Books all GONE in 5.2a SR-1!

Rebuild personal book index did not fix it - if I run that, it starts and stops almost immediately - less than a second (I can tell by appearance/disappearance of yellow bar).

I checked, and the 240 compiled files ARE in my Resources folder.

I closed Verbum to get clean logs, started Verbum, ran Rebuild Personal Book Index (which ended immediately), then closed Verbum. Here are the logs.

Not there. Also, clicking Open from with the Personal Book tool for any of the books says "This resource is no longer in your library" (see picture).

I also have a dropbox folder of all my compiled binaries that I use between machines so I don't have to compile a PB on every machine, I did a SCAN of it, still nothing.

Notice there was an error (two in fact), some sort of socket error in the error log. Not sure how that fits in.

I received to new downloaded resources today. I reboot, and see my resource count is down 240 resources! I check (see picture, ALL my personal books are GONE from Library! See in the right pane of the picture, they are all still there.

I am doing a rebuild personal index to see if that solves it. What a mess! Has anyone else seen this?

I have the exact same problem on my 5.2a SR-1 on a Win 7 x64 (not Verbum). Lately, every new update seems to cause some sort of new problem. This time they have really done it! I have lost all ~100 PBs. What crap! I am currently running a rebuild index, already tried "update resources"; restart program; restart computer; etc.

For now, I recommend doing nothing until we can assess the situation and determine the cause (i.e., don't start rebuilding all your Personal Books from source).

Thanks Bradley - and yes I won't do anything, and all the compiled pbs are in the resources directory so definitely no need to rebuild!

Were those of you that lost them using the beta or not? I was thinking maybe something is different between those who used beta versions and those who upgraded directly from one release version to another.

Because it didn't show up as a beta issue, I'm thinking it has to do with stable version to stable version upgrading.

I was a beta user, and I don't see the problem even though I have the stable version now.

sounds right. I ran the most current version (5.2a SR1) yesterday night or this morning, now some hours later started the software (SR1, English UI, Verbum set to Yes) the PBs are gone.

I have restarted multiple times today, so that can't be it.

I also have a new resource waiting, but will stay away from downloading that until we know more.

I have not done any program or resource updates today.

I was running the beta until 5.2a went gold. Then I executed "set update channel to Default" (which would put me on the stable channel). That was sometime Monday after gold was announced.

Yesterday when 5.2a SR-1 was released, I executed "update now" and stayed on the stable channel. Did some resource updates yesterday but nothing further since about 3pm yesterday afternoon.

I did restart the software today and executed a sync (clicked the sync arrows) a couple of times before I learned of this problem. I'd been waiting on Logos to restore my library to a state before I made a very serious mistake yesterday afternoon: I accidentally deleted all the tags from nearly all the resources in my Library. I'm sure my accident has nothing to do with the PBs disappearing, but I'm in limbo because of it. I hope the restoration of PBs doesn't make it impossible for me to get my deleted tags back.

Do you want both source files and compiled PBBs? How can we tell what compiled PBB files go with what source files without being able to open the PBBs in Logos to check the info panel?

Sure - here are 8 PBBs in this zip file! I'll send to logosbugs too. And I was NOT in the beta, so the theory of stable to stable may be true. AND, it does happen once you restart.

I have 169 of them and can't send them all to you. So I'm sending the ones that have been most recently compiled (since the beginning of March), but had to leave out Mark Barnes's gargantuan Dictionary of Christianity and the Bible (at least I assume that's what that .lbspbb file is) because it's too big, over 300 MB by itself!

Other potential clues -

(1) I have Logos 5 and have lost access to my books like others have reported - when I click on "Open" in PB list it opens a window that says "This resource is no longer in your library" - So the book metadata still seems to be present in the "Personal Books" (all the book covers, etc are present) but the books do not open to the actual text. The tab that opens still has the picture of the book cover and the author's name.

(2) I have Logos 4 on another machine (which has "Synch" enabled) and have not restarted or downloaded new resources for probably about 10 days. And yet when I read the forum thread, I tried to open one of PB's and it gave me the same message on the Logos 5 on my second computer. Also on this Logos 4 machine, I had a PB open (for several days) and it is still present and searchable. To reiterate - the L4 program has NOT been restarted or updated, BUT it is live to the internet. Therefore it looks like (at least potentially) something came via the automatic synch which resulted in the PB's misfiring.

In which case the fact that I can still see them in the library may be due to me being on 10.6, which is now a "maintenance version" that may never see PB syncing.

I believe we have nailed down the problem and a solution should be out soon.

This is a server issue and is unrelated to what version of Logos you are running. I'll have more details when the fix is deployed.

If you had rebuilt any of your personal books while they were missing, you will need to rebuild them once more after updating.
