I'm hesitant t give my credit card out for the free books. Why is this a requirement?
Bill, welcome to the forums. This is a question that often comes up here! The simple answer is that it's the way the Logos website has been set up. However, if you dig around the forums, you should see a posting from a Logos employee (which I can't locate right now) that they are working on changing the set-up of the website so as to remove this requirement, however I don't think any timescales have been given for when it will be completed.
One option you could consider (assuming they are locally available to you) is buying a cheap Visa, MasterCard, etc. voucher card from a store (with a fixed amount of credit on it) which you could use to register on your account.
This question comes up rather frequently. It's just the way their system is set up to work. Nothing will be charged, and I've never heard of anyone having any problems with it.

@ Bill,
You can always purchase books with a Visa gift card. Some do that. This way, you can feel more secure knowing that the gift card is used up and can not be charged again.
I have had a credit card on file for years and have never been charged for free items.
Why, why, why it bothers some people to place a credit card? Could someone explain me? Are people afraid of fraud or what? Are there other reasons behind it?
