What happened in these highlights?

I had been highlighting my way through a book. They are collected in the note file. However, the formatting of the notes shifted. Not sure why or how... But I want to export and/or print this so that I can view all highlights in one place. But the earlier highlights only show a small portion of the text while the latter ones the full text. Not sure if this can be corrected. But perhaps someone can point out what happened.

Highlights are not designed to compile the full content of a highlighted passage or text in the note file. If you make notes regarding a highlighted text then that will show up and can be printed or exported.

EDIT: If you want the full text of a passage or excerpt, then I would suggest clippings rather notes.

There is a limit to the number of characters that are included in a selection. For example if I highlight one word, it will be there. If I highlight 20 words the first and last portion will appear in the title. I am not certain of the number of characters it is limited to.

EDIT: Taking a second look at your screen shot I realize what your OP was getting at. I have to say I do not know why some of the highlights appear as longer text than the others. Perhaps it is a Mac thing? I am running windows so I cannot tell.

That may indeed be the case. But I wonder why they would function differently in that regard. It would be much more helpful if they operated consistently.

I know what you are saying. I agree with Logos (the area that you are wishing had "full text" is the "title" of the note... having the full text in the title doesn't make sense), but I also think Logos should add functionality to highlighting notes in general. There should be a "quote" view which shows the entire quote, and nothing but the quote.

MOST of the time, I don't use highlighting notes as notes... I simply want the resource to be marked up. With many others, I do also wish there were a "quote" view. However, the way that Logos has the highlighting notes set up currently is also very useful. A user could mark up a book and take notes attached to each highlight.

Perhaps some versatility would be helpful. Because MOST of the time, I use highlighting with the notion that I will return in order to remind myself of the flow and 'highlights' of the book. So perhaps the addition of a 'full highlight quote' option would be valuable - to me at least. Particularly as I periodically desire to export and/or print the same...

I don't print mine, but otherwise it sounds like we use highlightng for the same thing. [:)]

From what I've read, the historic issue is that the computer version would truncate the highlighted notes and the iPad would supply the full text. It was labeled a bug for the mobile versions. In the hopes that I could retain the full highlighted text, I resorted to the iPad highlighting only - which I found is now also truncated [:(]
