New Laptop and Thanks for the Advice

Quite a while ago I asked for some advice on purchasing a new laptop. A few people came to my assistance and i wanted to thank them (Dave Hooten) was one name I remember. At the time a number of people suggested I consider an i7...well, although at the time they were way out of my price range, a good aussie dollar and christmas specials have resulted in me purchasing a new HP (dv6) with an i7 720Q processor, 4 gig of ram, Dedicated gRaphics card (1 Gig ) and 500Gd HD (I have no idea what any of that means but it sounds impressive).

Logos 4 is installing now andIi wanted to say thanks for those who provided advice and feedback. It is a big step for me...I am returning from the darkside of MAC!!!

I too got my new HP dv7t last week, which is just like your dv6, only with a 17in screen, and I agree it runs L4 like a dream. I installed the "All CPU Meter" gadget so I could monitor the CPU usage and it was awesome to watch 8 threads indexing my library. The i7 is a beast!

There must be a high demand for these models right now, because it took HP four weeks to get it to me.

They are one of only a few i7s on the market here (unless you get into the super gaming computers). It was nice when I found it for $1786 (at a business/stationary store called Officeworks) when everywhere else had it for $1890...only to discover at the checkout that they had just reduced it to $1693!!!

I think you are correct re. the demand for these machines. I got the last one Officeworks had in stock!

Here's hoping there will be no blue screens or my mac buddies will never let me live it down!
