Logos prerequisites

Well, lo & behold - another update and another Logos Prerequisite problem again - same as the last time. I had to delete the Logos Prerequisite file again before this would actually load again.

Plus, after I deleted the original LP, my whole system went bottom up and had to gather info before it would reboot. I've not seen this before.

Obviously something is more than awry with these updates, or at least the last two for me. What goes?

What IS are you using? I would speculate that the problem is unique to you rather than a logos issue. I say that because I have not seen large numbers of users with update issues.

Have you any idea as to why I'm having the aforementioned problem?

If this is the same system as in http://community.logos.com/forums/p/74256/518983.aspx#518983 then save your resources, uninstall Prerequisites & Logos 5 from Control Panel, delete the Logos5 folder and use Method 3 to reinstall. This will ensure the registry is updated correctly.

Honestly Dave, the last time you instructed me to do this, I gave up and simply downloaded the whole program. As simple as this probably is, it's leaves me scratching my head.

Right now, I am looking for the Logos 5 folder and I can't even put my hands (or should that be my mouse) on that ... I see the Logos Log Files but that's as close as I can even come to finding the director you mention.

When I look at this from the Control Panel, I see nothing called Logos 5 but Logos Bible software, unless this is actually what you mean. Is there another way one can overcome my snag or is this the only avenue of escape from this problem apart from a complete download?

Yes, that's the program I meant.

1) But first move the Resources folder in C:\Users\Bootjack\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\randomId\ResourceManager to C:\Users\Bootjack (moving will be quicker than copying). Now, it's possible you also have a Logos5 folder in C:\Users\Bootjack\AppData\Local so you should move the Resources folder with the latest Date modified in File Explorer.

2) Uninstall Logos Bible Software and Logos 5 Prerequisites and then delete the Logos4 and Logo5 folders if they exist.

3) Then re-install Logos 5 following the steps at http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers#Method_3 Ignore Step 1 (done above). At step 3. the command you type will be scan C:\Users\Bootjack\Resources.

This will avoid re-downloading resources. But if it looks too difficult:-

1) Uninstall Logos Bible Software and Logos 5 Prerequisites and then delete the Logos4 and Logo5 folders from step 1) above.

2) Reinstall Logos 5 from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS5/Installer/LogosSetup.exe.

Thank you Dave for the suggestions. I cheated and called Support, who came onboard this rig and did something with the Logos Updatemanager. He changed two different files regarding the update - typed in ".old" after them and had Logos update again. You would know the technicalities involved in this - I don't.

He said this would fix the problem. Stay tuned to a computer near you (or your neighbour's) and listen for someone wanging the next time an Update comes sliding down the tubes - or - someone laughing out of control because this actually fixed the problem. :-}

I know the file location now but never would have had a clue as to do what he did. Anyway, it was a very quick fix. Appreciate you coming in on this one Dave!!! :-)

Observation: Windows 8.1 on a desktop computer feels like a big phone when using Metro interface: full screen with no indication of anything else running, which is reminiscent of the original Mac that ran one program at a time. Windows 8.1 has Easter Eggs: e.g. Charms side bar. Using a track pad can have hidden items appear when not expected: e.g. finger motion seems like a slide in from the left or right. Have learned Windows logo key + x keyboard shortcut when want to shut down or restart.
