Bug: black areas on the screen

I have installed Logos 5 on a new computer, downloaded the whole library, and waited for the indexing to be finished. I use windows 7 64-bit.

But there is a bug in Logos. Black areas appear on the screen of Logos 5. Sometimes the whole program turns black, and then it returns to almost normal view, or with some black areas again.EDIT: This does only happening in the main window of Logos. When I open extra floating windows they work as normal. Other programs on the computer does also work as normal.

Could someone HELP ME?

It seems like it is only a problem when I have connected a second screen. I have discovered that everything is normal when I only use the internal screen on the laptop. EDIT: Almost normal. There are some minor black bugs when I have not connected a second monitor, but not at all as much as with two monitors..

My videocard is AMD Radeon HD 8750M, and the driver is up to date.

Any suggestions?

I installed the newest version of Adobe Flashplayer, and that seems to have solved the problem. But don't ask me why... [:O]

Maybe someone else can explain?

I have the same problem sometimes which I outlined in this thread. It got better with one of the last two driver updates, but it still happens from time to time. Scrolling is the bigger problem for me. It definitely has something to do with multiple monitors.

I would lay the blame in one of two areas in particular - both of which are outside of Logos' control, with some overlap into something Logos really can't control.

1. The hardware. Lots of video cards are taxed when running multiple monitors. There's lots of stuff happening, and it takes horsepower to drive it all. Laptop graphics, and even desktop graphics don't always handle that much very well. Outside of the physical card there are other physical issues like limitations of the "bus" the system that allows the computer to communicate with the video card. Include here things like bad monitors, weak cables, poor connections, flaky RAM and multiple hardware problems can contribute.

2. The Driver. Even if the video card and associated hardware is physically capable of handling the load, the software the drives the video card may be buggy in that area. Sometimes an upgrade to the video driver will fix it because it "teaches" your video card to work better in that particular area.

3. The Logos Program. You might even have a game card and driver that could run the latest video game - but chokes on Logos - that is where Logos could have done, but didn't do, something different. They went with a graphic subsystem built on WPF/ .NET. it does things differently than other programs. It requires more maintenance here, and less over there. But because it is different, drivers don't always know what to do with it.

My Guess: if it was running in your browser it can impact system resources needed for rendering images in Logos. The latest version is more efficient with system resources.
