Windows tablet install question

This seems self evident, but I wanted to ask to make sure.

I plan on trying to install Logos on the SD card of my Windows Pro tablet again. Going to try the "Method 2" of quick installation to avoid downloading and indexing by copying the following folders to a "clean install":

\Logos4\Data
\Logos4\Documents
\Logos4\Users

My question is: Does this work as well for subsequent resource purchases?

That is, if I copy the changed files from the listed folders, from my desktop to my tablet (after the resources are fully downloaded and indexed), will this eliminate the need for future downloading and indexing on my tablet?

I have not tried specifically what you're think of. I have used method two many times to update my netbook and windows tablet when I had one. However when I have done it I was always installing a newer version of Logos. I am not sure if simply copying updated data, documents, and user folders would work. I would think it should. Give it a try and see what happens. The worst that could happen is that it won't work and you will have to perform the full method.

Provided the files come from the same version of Logos it should work. You may have to scan resources, though.

That's the kicker, isn't it.

In order to keep all versions the same I have to allow or prevent version updates. But if I do allow new program updates, and resources also happen to download with with the update there's no way to avoid indexing.

You can control that by setting "Automatically download updates" to NO on the tablet. If you need to update the software to the same version you can use the web download link. When you've finished updating resources by copying the Data/Documents/User files, etc. any pending download will have adjusted itself so that there will be nothing to do!

However, even with that setting, I let my Windows 8 tablet do the indexing because the time taken is acceptable when compared to the time taken to copy the 14 GB Data folder onto the tablet (it has an eMMC drive). If the download is big enough I use a variation of Method 3 and just let scan get the updated resources from the other computer. I would recommend this overall approach as it is much simpler than Method 2 (but if I ever have to re-index the resources I'll use Method 2).

I got it installed using method 2, the scan took a few hours, but the result didn't end up too bad. It's not much slower than Logos was on my netbook.

I tried this a couple a weeks ago with a fresh install, but because the program has to be on the SD card expansion memory, the indexing was only half way done after 24 hours. I'm going to go ahead and try the "on tablet" indexing the next time there is a resource update. Hopefully if there is only a few megabytes the supplemental indexing wont take that long.

This was actually one of the quickest procedures. All I had to do (after I had the Logos program installed) was to shutdown the tablet, pop the micro SD into my desktop and copy the folders (21 GB Data folder). Much quicker than using a USB cable.

Right on! I don't have that facility on my desktop, so I have to use a (removable) USB drive.

Well, there were 3 books installed, about 8 MB, and after 4 hours of indexing it was at 66% when it crashed.

Looks like "Method 2" is going to be the best way to install updates too.

Upload the zipped Logos Log Files folder (in My Documents) as the crash info will say why it crashed.

It was because of too little disk space (only 4 GB of 32 GB available).

I have a 64 GB on the way, and will give it a try again.

Well, I got the new card, formatted it to NTFS, copied the Logos folder to it, and started the tablet back up.

The results were quite pleasing:

It downloaded the latest Logos 5 update, and 30 resources.
Within a few hours the update was installed and the supplemental indexing completed.

I must say, not too shabby.
