Is Logos 4 Beta working only on English OS?
It looks strange, but I am more and more convinced that the problem I have with the Indexer not even starting to work, but crashing Logos each time it starts, is related to the fact I am using the European version of the OS, particularly Czech one. I tried to install the Logos 4 on 4 machines: 2 with the Vista Business, with Logos3 installed. One Vista Home without any Logos installed anytime before. I tried also to install it on our old home computer with the XP Home installed, without the Logos 3 installed before. It does exactly the same in all 4 situations.
It installs the program OK, than it says it will open the Logos 4 and it does up to the Login.
I login and it does OK, starts to open Indexer (I can see a blue icon in the tray, saying it starts indexing) but that is the moment it always crashes and gives me the OS error message saying that the OS had to stop the program.
When I shut the error message, it turns off the Indexer icon on the tray.
Logos 4 opens anyways, off course it is just empty interface, no resources. It works however normally (as far as I can say without any resources.)
When I close the Logos, there is no way I would be able to open it again (I think it is because it tries to start the Indexer and it is not working.)
The only way I can start Logos again is to uninstall it, delete the Logos 4 folder and do a fresh install.
The story repeats and I can enjoy the Interface for that one-time event. After closing the Interface, again, there is no way to start the Logos once more.
Is there any plan to test Logos on the non-English OS? Is there anybody testing the Logos on the non-English Vista? Are there any European non-English testers who succeeded in Installing and indexing the resources?

It's hard to believe I am the only one here in the Testers group using non-English Vista or XP. Is there anybody successfully testing Logos 4 on the MS Windows Vista or XP in localized German, French, Dutch version etc?
My system is:
Dell XPS 1330M, CPU Intel Core2 Duo 2GHz
2 GB RAM, 40 GB free on the HardDisk
NVidia GeForce 8400M GS 128MB
Windows Vista Business (32) SP2 (Czech localization)
IE8, using as default Firefox 3.5, AVG8, Windows Firewall

I will soon be installing it on the Simplified Chinese Windows XP Home. My laptop (with a 30G SSD) needs me to clear about half the drive before installing v4 and my desktop is having problems and needs a fresh install of Windows before installing v4. Both worked fine for my previous use, but neither is allowing v4 until I can get this done (which I am working on as diligently as I can).

Yes, I'm using a Spanish version of Windows XP SP3. So far I'm having issues (missing resources, mixed languages in some context menus, and so on), but managed to install and index fine (at least, as far as I know). My problems are not unlike those of other people using English OSes, from what I gather reading the forums.

Thank you Ruben for your information. It gives me some hope that it should not be a problem of non-English OS localization. My Indexer just do not even starts to work. It crashes always at the beginning. Have a great day.

OK, I try to be patient, but is there any hope I will be able to start testing? Did anybody from Logos read my above description of the problem? Is there anything I can try to do differently? I installed Logos 4 not only on my notebook (where Logos 3 is present) but also on a Vista and XP computers which have had no previous installation of Logos. It always does the same = crashes in the moment of activating the Indexer. Am I missing something? Am I just the only one having that problem? On 4 machines? Exactly the same result? It have to be something to it. Still hoping...

If you're right that it is a problem with Czech Windows, we won't be able to test and reproduce the issue until Tuesday U.S. time (tomorrow). From the log files, it seems unlikely that we can find a workaround in Beta 1; unfortunately, you'll probably have to wait for Beta 2 to get a fix.

Thank you Bradley. I am patient. You will not loose me easily [:)]
I just did one thing and that is after install I gave a wrong email (login) and it allowed me to go offline. Amazingly the indexer started to work and the download started to download 640 MB (it have never done it before). My system shows (also the blue icon) that the Indexer runs and is active. Interesting. I will let you know what happened next (still downloading).

Maybe the next Beta should have a way to test the UN and PW and return a message like, "Check UN" or "Check PW" so that others don't think it is an actual error on Logos' install process.0 -
this does bring up an interesting dilemma. Bohuslav typed in the wrong email, which made him unable to log-in.

Well, I am sorry I did not explain more. I did it on purpose, after reading one other post saying that this way you can get offline. It says your login info is not correct, but it offers you offline use than. (You can get it also by asking Logos to help you with login). Somehow that new situation moved me from the dead corner. I have Logos running now with one resource: Meltho Fonts User Guide [H] Good... At least I can try some features.
It downloads now Updates (68%) so we will see what will happen next.

Oh, I see. I was thnking it was a mistake that Logos did not tell you there was a wrong email address. Thanks for making that clearer. Good luck!
Well, it is strange. It works till I do not login. When I login with my correct info, it starts Logos, but crashes Indexer. Logos, any ideas about that? I had even the situation I see my login email address on the top of Logos, but Indexer not working. Just one resource I mentioned above.

OK, it did some new things, it allowed me to login, but did not show any other resources except the one mentioned already. On restart it crashed again. Here are new log files, showing some new info.

And here is an Indexer log file. (I put the config file into the log folder Bradley posted somewhere else, is it OK?)

Since you haven't ever logged in successfully (using your logos.com account), no licenses have been downloaded from our server to your system, so no books will be unlocked (except for documentation and manuals). Offline activation isn't supported in Beta 1, so we'll just have to wait and see if we can get the cookie problem fixed for Beta 2.

Thank you Bradley for your answer. Well, something new happened. I was just playing with login and offline opening the Logos 4. One more thing I did is that I turned the date to an US English version (in my Vista system).
It logged-in successfully and showed the "newspaper" HomePage. Then I double-clicked the Indexer and SURPRISE! It started to index resources. Now It needs to do last 335 ones and... we will see. I will let you know what happened. My Logos 4 is opened, still does not show other resources, just the Fonts Book. But I gained a lot of Gigas of something into the Logos 4 folder. Waiting and watching...

Hi Bradley again,
So I think I know what is the problem. I am now up and running and I tested that on my Home XP machine too. I explain the problem in this post to Dan who is using Chinese version of the OS. I hope it will help him also. It works for me like a charm. Thanks for your help. Have a great day.

Thanks for posting your workaround. We have reproduced the bug here, and it will be fixed in Beta 2.
